Manga launched in 2015, inspired by the 2019 TV anime adaptation
Kodoani.com – Manga creator Yōko Tamotsu announced on their Twitter account on Tuesday that the manga Mayonaka no Occult Kōmuin (Midnight Occult Civil Servants) will end in the next chapter of the series. On the same day, the official Twitter account of Kadokawa’s Comic Newtype website confirmed that the next chapter of the manga will premiere on February 22.
The modern fantasy manga revolves around Arata Miyako, a new government employee assigned to the “Night Area Relations” department of the Shinjuku Ward Office. Each of Tokyo’s 23 wards has such a division, established to deal with events related to the occult and the occult. Arata is able to understand non-human voices that no one else can understand, and he meets a yōkai (supernatural entity) at Shinjuku Gyoen Park, whose name is Abe no Seimei – the name of a mystic Japanese occultist and historian.
Tamotsu launched the manga in Kadokawa’s monthly Asuka magazine in May 2015, and the manga is also serialized in Kadokawa’s Comic Newtype website. Kadokawa published the manga’s 16th volume in August 2021. The manga’s 13th volume in May 2020 begins the manga’s final season.
