School horror is a topic that has been exploited by many NSXs in interesting games such as Detention, Misao, White Day … or the long-lasting masterpiece Corpse Party. Today we come to another school-themed horror game with a name that can’t be easier to understand than Classmates – Classmates.
At the beginning of the game, the heroine June Miller is chatting with her two best friends, Lillia and Quinn, in a small cafe. The conversation revolved around a classmate Ian Davis, who had to take care of his sick sister, so he didn’t come to class for a while. But today, Ian suddenly texted June, asking to borrow her notebook to review the lecture. Being a kind girl, June happily agreed without a doubt.
Contrary to that, her two friends were worried about it. Lillia suggested that they go with June, and Quinn had an uneasy feeling about Ian. But June said that she only came to deliver the notebook and returned immediately so there was no need to do so, and promised to send the status to both of them for peace of mind. Feeling unable to convince her stubborn friend, Quinn just let June go, but still did not forget to remind her friend to immediately notify her if she felt something was wrong.
The conversation ended soon after, June said goodbye to her two best friends, went to the bus stop to catch the bus to Ian’s house. Right now, if you choose to rethink and cancel your date with Ian, you’ll come to the first ending of the game – “Canceled Plans”. June will change her mind and return to the cafe with two friends. The group would then agree to call Ian here instead of letting June go alone to his house.
The story is not over yet
In case June persists with her decision, the game will continue with the scene where she takes the bus to Ian’s house. A premonition flashed through June’s mind, but she chose to ignore it. The train will take June to a dark, deserted place, not far from Ian’s house.
There was a knock on the door, and Ian with long pink hair came out to greet June. As usual, she handed the notebook to Ian, the two chatted for a few sentences, and then June said she had to go back first. But Ian invited her into the house to rest. Faced with two options to go home or stay, if June chooses to refuse, we will come to the second ending – “Study Buddy”. In this ending, Ian will give June a scary look, but still let her go home safely and the game ends here.
But, if June agrees to enter Ian’s house for a drink, the story will continue. Ian led her to the living room and offered her a cup of tea containing the medicine. After taking a sip, Ian’s phone suddenly rang, forcing him to go outside to answer the phone.
At the same time, the feeling of needing to urinate came over to June, forcing her to frantically find a toilet to vent her feelings. But when she came out, the medicine in the tea had worked, a feeling of dizziness surrounded June, causing her to pass out as soon as she stepped out of the toilet.
Moments later, June woke up to find herself locked in the basement, and her phone stolen. While she was struggling to untie, Ian appeared with a knife in his hand, saying that he loved her and wanted to keep her for himself. Of course June fought back, cursed and forced Ian to release her, but all to no avail.
At this moment, a knock on the door sounded above, causing Ian to frown, he grumbled for a while and then decided to go up to check. Taking that opportunity, June managed to untie the ropes. In the darkness of the room, June picked up the key Ian had dropped, and began groping around for a way out.
On the right hand side of the room, June finds a box with a strange smell, inside are the heads of many different people, they are probably Ian’s “booty”. In the box on the right, June found the pencil she lost a few days ago, needless to say it was Ian who took it and brought it here.
June climbed the stairs out of the basement and found herself in Ian’s room. On the wall of the room were many pictures of her taken from all angles, Ian could see that Ian had been following and stalking June for a long time. Even on the paper there was a string of letters with her name on it, showing his extreme obsession with her.
This scary behavior makes June feel disgusted and wants to get out of here as soon as possible, but before that, June has to find her phone again. Stepping out the door, she heard Ian arguing with her sister Ares, even threatening to kill her if she dared to scream or break furniture in the room.
Guessing that the brothers didn’t get along very well, June hurriedly hid under the bed when Ian entered the room. Obviously, he quickly discovered that June was gone, so he immediately scoured the house looking for her.
When Ian was gone, June crept out, but was seen by Ares. Instead of shouting at Ian, the girl called her to her room to take refuge. According to Ares, the pervert had locked the front door, so she couldn’t escape that way if she couldn’t find the key.
In the immediate future, both need to call the police for help. But June’s phone is hidden in Ian’s room, Ares doesn’t have a phone, only using a landline in the kitchen, but it will be extremely dangerous if Ian finds out.
It was the only way, and June didn’t want a kid like Ares to have to deal with Ian, so she volunteered to go to the kitchen to make a call. But when she got to the door, she found Ian there talking on the phone, so she had to find a way to lure him somewhere else.
Sneaking into the storage room, June found a potion of sleeping pills, and a pencil sharpener. After hiding for a while, she finally waited until Ian left the kitchen. June rushed in there to use the phone, but the damn phone didn’t work. It seems that Ian deliberately disconnected the power to avoid other people calling to disturb him.
Feeling unable to use the phone to contact the police, June decided to use the sleeping pills she found to kill Ian. She poured potion into a spray bottle to protect herself, and even had a pot ready to beat Ian if the potion didn’t work.
When everything was ready, June walked out of the room and encountered Ian waiting outside. Using all the means of self-defense she had, she managed to knock her unconscious for a while, enough for her to find her phone or the key to leave this place.
June ventured to search Ian, but found only a key and a June 17 photo of Ian and his mother when he was still a child. Trying to go up another room, June finds a new family photo of Ian, father, Ares and stepmother, which turns out Ares and Ian are half-brothers.
Continuing the search, June learns that Ian’s stepmother was found dead at her home the day before her and Ian’s father’s wedding. Would Ian have a hand in this? June didn’t know, and now wasn’t the right time for her to find out.
Back in Ian’s room, she used the key she found on him to open a box and retrieve her phone. Unfortunately, there was no signal in the house, so June was unable to call the police or her friends.
Now, the only way to get rid of Ian is to find the key to the front door that he is hiding somewhere in the house. June returned to Ares’ room to report and ask her about the whereabouts of the key, when Ian suddenly appeared.
He reveals that it was Ares who kept the key in the first place, but fearing that Ian would reveal her secret, she didn’t give the key to June. Then, before June’s surprise and despair, Ares cried and apologized and slammed the door in her face, leaving June alone with Ian.
He then dragged the poor girl to her room and used a knife to end June’s life. Before she took her last breath, only Ian’s whispers remained in her ears, that he liked innocent, kind, and trusting girls like June, because… it made him sick. And that’s the 3rd ending of the game – Sick.
Other endings
Of course that’s just one of the endings of the game. In the event that June doesn’t fight back but just cries and asks Ian why he did it, we will come to the 4th ending – Dinner. Ian will reveal that it’s all because June is a good person, and he, hates nice people like her. Eventually, she became part of Ian’s head collection. He brought the food, chatted with the cold heads, and happily introduced that, today, his collection was about to receive another victim.
In case, if June chose not to drink Ian’s medicated water and go upstairs to check in the first place. Little Ares will advise her to leave this house, even giving her the key to Ian’s room so that June can see his metamorphosis with her own eyes.
However, curiosity always comes at a cost. Ian would show up just in time, take June’s anesthetic and wait for her then just inevitable death. In the 6th ending: Self Defense, if June decides to fight back by force, she will snatch Ian’s knife and stab him once. Leads to Ian’s death.
With the ending being considered a true ending, June will convince Ares to open the main door, and the two run away together. But everything seemed so shocking that June had to go to psychological treatment, since then, she did not see Ares or Ian again, and did not know what happened to the two of them later. June only knew that Ian’s voice continued to follow her, lingering in her head for a very long time. But who cares? Because now she has friends by her side.
However, that is not the end of the game. After the after credits ends, a text will appear, the narrator and publisher of the game will appear, announcing that the game will have other parts, revealing the fate of Ian and Ares in the future.
And basically, Classmates is the story of a psychopath named Ian, who plans to kill his classmate June because she is too kind. Up to now, we only know that, perhaps, Ian’s biological mother has passed away, he is living with his step-sister Ares, his stepmother died before the wedding took place, and where his father is unknown.
I guess, maybe Ian murdered his stepmother, and the reason his personality became twisted might be because, his biological father was the culprit who caused the death of his biological mother. But, is that true or not, I don’t know, have to wait and see if the game has a new part or not.
The content of Classmates, I don’t need to say anymore because the game has already expressed it so clearly. There is no mind to harm people, but you must have a heart to protect people, remember, girls, even if you are kind, you must also protect yourself, because the god of luck is not always present.
