Being able to help the traitor UA in My Hero Academia Chapter 337 is proof of Deku’s maturity and kindness that touched Yuga.
Kodoani.com – WARNING: The following contains spoilers for My Hero Academia Chapter 337.
Ever since Yuga Aoyama was revealed to be the UA traitor, many fans have been waiting with ragged breaths to find out what his fate will be. No wonder Izuku Midoriya, along with the rest of Class 1A, doesn’t seem to have given up on his classmate; They are giving Yuga a chance to atone.
Although his previous status as a spy in the UA was an important one, All For One was never particularly interested in Yuga or his family. To him, they were just another group of his pawns that he could mobilize in favorable situations as he saw fit. His successes are always welcome, but even though Yuga’s identity has been revealed, it doesn’t seem like the loss of the spy will have much of an impact on All For One.
On the other hand, for Class 1A, Yuga is an irreplaceable part of their group. Ever since they first joined UA, they’ve been helping each other on their journey to becoming Professional Heroes. Everyone has their own motivation to choose that path but when they train, live and overcome challenges together, they stick together and truly become a team. It was the sense of familiarity they shared that made it hard for 1A to believe that Yuga was really a traitor.
The shared 1A bond is also quite real for Yuga. Spying on his classmates as an All For One spy had never been a mission he enjoyed. Yuga was originally a human like Deku and received his Navel Laser from All For One in a deal between his parents and the villainous leader. Following UA is how he is helping his parents make their final deal. It hurts Yuga every time his classmates are injured in attacks that are partly his fault but it is the only way to protect his parents from the wrath of All For One.
Like the rest of the class, Yuga really had a desire to become a hero before entering UA. The All For One quest may have derailed his purpose, but there have been a few moments when his selfless desire shines through. During Class 1A’s attempt at the Temporary Hero License Exam, the guy made himself a clear target for their opponents so the class could regroup around him. And even more courageously, he attacked with his Navel Laser during the Alliance of Villains’ attack on their training camp, preventing them from kidnapping Fumikage Tokoyami along with Katsuki Bakugo. Such was the case that Izuku reminded Yuga when he declared himself a villain.
Izuku also mentioned Lady Nagant, another hero who also spy for All For One. She doesn’t work for him because not because she believes in his ideals but because her spirit has been crushed and manipulated, almost like Yuga. Instead of kicking him out as many expected, Izuku reached out to help Yuga. Izuku fully understands that a person’s past actions do not affect their entire personality and is willing to give Yuga another chance to prove herself. And it looks like Yuga will accept.
