In Episode #329, All For One is presented with his greatest obstacle and opportunity. Star and Stripe represent both, and she’s up against Shigaraki.
In the manga My Hero Academia, the heroic society has been in constant turmoil for months now as a result of its fight against the mystical Liberation Front. Unsung heroes are fighting to win back the trust of the common people and keep Japan from completely falling apart. Meanwhile, the main villains have low results. That is, until Chapter #329.
The last time readers saw Tomura Shigaraki, he was being controlled by All For One against his will. All For One used Shigaraki to wreak havoc on Tartarus and free all the villains being held there, including the AFO itself. Shigaraki has been resting ever since so that his body could become the perfect vessel for the AFO. All Might deduces that this will take place over three days in Chapter #328, and now Shigaraki is finally back ready for battle.
America’s #1 pro hero, known as Star and Stripe, was introduced in My Hero Academia Chapter #328 when she was on her way to Japan. She is determined to answer All Might’s request for help. In a typical fashion, All For One sees this as an opportunity to capitalize on and reveal its hopes of stealing the story of Star and Stripe.
All For One explains to Spinner that they won the game of hide and seek they were playing with the heroes and the police. Spinner suggests they can be won by leaving the country, but All For One makes it clear that winning that game is a short-term goal, while winning One For All is a mid-game goal. This leads Spinner to question whether obtaining an OFA is not the end goal.
In response, All For One did not specify what its exact end goal is. Instead, he explained that he had planned a long life in advance, and that in those plans, the biggest obstacle – and last chance – was now presented to him in the form of Star and Stripe. He calls her the strongest woman around and says that if he takes her Quirk, the rest of the fight will be just formality to them.
The Star and Stripe Quirk is yet to be revealed, so it’s unclear why AFO getting it would have such a huge impact on the fight. Readers of My Hero Academia may not have to wait long to find out, as Shigaraki appears before the American hero in the final moments of Chapter #329. He meets her above the clouds in a flying nomu , and she asked if he was All For One. He responded by saying it was a good question and flamboyantly asked, “What exactly am I?”
This encounter sets up a potential war that could have devastating consequences for the heroes, depending on the winner. Considering how much All For One is about Star and Stripe and her Quirk, fighting her won’t be an easy task for Shigaraki. Furthermore, he seems to be the only villain present, while Endeavor, Hawks and Best Jeanist are all on their way.
