My Hero Academia Chapter 334 details the impact of Star and Stripe’s failure on morale, worldwide.
Kodoani.com – Fans My Hero Academia still reeling from the death of Star and Stripe at the hands of All For One. After an intense battle between the two strongest, Star gave up Quirk’s life to end his reign of All For One terror. Her plan was somewhat successful when All For One was forced to flee the battlefield before he was completely annihilated, however, the true meaning of Star’s actions is still coming to light.
Before Star began her battle with All For One, it was revealed that she had left Japan before receiving proper clearance. All Might and other Japanese Professional Heroes have requested help from other governments to deal with the chaos caused by the Paranormal Liberation War and All For One’s mass prison break. One might expect that they would receive prompt full support from the international heroes, but even as the situation in Japan continued to deteriorate, aid never arrived. Though the heroes are willing, their hands are tied with bureaucracy.
Star’s early departure was partly due to All Might asking for help and to her frustration with the system. She recognized All For One as a serious threat and, after engaging him, concluded that he was strong enough to pose a threat not only to Japan but to the world at large. Her plan is to meet the Japanese heroes upon arrival and confront All For One as a united front.
Unfortunately, she was cut off along the way by All For One, whose worst nightmare was unwittingly realized by Star and Stripe. He kept an eye on the New Order and the thought of it colliding with One For All was a possibility that would threaten his plans too much to ignore. Instead of stealing One For All and then confronting Star and Stripe as originally planned, he was forced to gamble against Star while Tomura Shigaraki’s body was still incomplete.
All For One’s gamble was successful but one could argue he’s still in trouble. After successfully stealing the New Order, the Quirk continued to wreak havoc on his body, destroying quite a few other Quirks he had stocked up on and forcing him to flee the battlefield or risk being completely annihilated. The battle caused Shigaraki’s body to function much less than it was capable of, but the ability he displayed was more than enough to thwart further attacks.
Star and Stripe is America’s #1 Hero and is considered by many to be one of the strongest. Her involvement in Japan’s crisis, if it had survived, might have prompted other countries to follow her example but her failure had the exact opposite effect. It has made the international community more aware of the threat that All For One poses. Instead of supporting Japan, they chose to strengthen their own defence. It’s a pragmatic, albeit somewhat selfish, move that could come back to bite them if All For One fully conquers Japan. If his greed shows anything, then he won’t stop after just conquering one country.
Fortunately, all hope is not lost yet. Japan still has their heroes as a last line of defense. Their tenacity coupled with the ultimate advantage Star bestowed on them with her sacrifice may have been just what they needed to finally put the All For One in peace but for now, it seems they will have to do it alone.
