Emoto posted the sixth volume’s cover on Twitter on Thursday, and when a curious fan asked if it was the final volume, Emoto confirmed that the manga is expected to end with the seventh volume . The sixth volume revealed that the seventh volume will officially be published on April 9, 2024.
“Shin Honkaku Mahō Shōjo Risuka” is an adaptation of the novel of the same name by author NisiOisin and has appeared on the pages of Kodansha’s Bessatsu Shōnen magazine since April 2021.
The story is set in Nagasaki prefecture on the island of Kyushu, which becomes home to a kingdom that uses magic, but remains isolated on the island. A tense time in history when America dropped an atomic bomb on the city during World War II keeps the story exciting and dramatic.
Nao Emoto is not only famous for “Shin Honkaku Mahō Shōjo Risuka” but has also participated in many other art projects, including drawing the manga O Maidens in Your Savage Season with author Mari Okada. Emoto has also participated in the manga adaptation of the animated film Josee, The Tiger and the Fish and has published many other romance works such as “Forget Me Not.” The ending of “Shin Honkaku Mahō Shōjo Risuka” is a regretful ending, but at the same time an opportunity for Emoto to leave a strong impression on readers through the ending of this story.
