Official information about Switch 2 will be revealed in the current fiscal year (before March 2025).
Nintendo will reveal the Switch's successor during the current fiscal year (ending March 31, 2025). However, the company will not mention its consoles during its Nintendo Direct event in June. Instead, the event will only focus on games coming out in the second half of 2024 on Switch. Nintendo's announcement reads as follows: “This is Furukawa, President of Nintendo. We will make an announcement about the Nintendo Switch successor this fiscal year. It's been more than nine years since we announced the existence of the Nintendo Switch in March 2015. We're hosting a Nintendo Direct this June to showcase the games coming to the platform in the second half of 2024 , but please note that the event will not feature the Nintendo Switch successor.”
Nintendo's statement comes after a series of articles from earlier this year reporting that the Switch 2 was targeting a March 2025 release. That could still come true after Mr. Furukawa's revelation, but Nintendo It's also possible that the new device will only be announced during that time, meaning fans won't be able to hold the Switch 2 in their hands yet. While the new announcement isn't Nintendo's first hint at a Switch 2, it's the most direct hint and comes from the same financial report that revealed that the Switch has sold an additional 1.96 million units since reported last year, bringing the total number of units to 141.32 million. The financial report also revealed the Top 10 best-selling games on Switch including:
