Nintendo won’t repeat the mistakes of Wii U on Switch

During a recent press conference, the president of Nintendo Japan discussed how new hardware upgrades will learn from past mistakes.

Nintendo

The OLED Switch is a disappointment for gamers waiting for a brand new product from Nintendo.

Since the early 80’s, Nintendo has served as a well-known publisher and one of the most popular video game studios in existence. Producing some of the best-selling gaming hardware of all time, Nintendo has enjoyed a great deal of influence over the gaming community. That said, the studio has had its fair share of flaws related to some hardware, but fortunately, it looks like the studio is taking steps to not repeat those mistakes.

Although boasting an impressive game library, the Wii U was, for all intents and purposes, a commercial failure. After discontinuing production just five years after its initial launch, the Wii U was quickly replaced by the release of the Nintendo Switch. While the reasons why the Wii U failed vary widely, Nintendo is certainly aware of most of them, and according to the studio’s president, future hardware will be built to avoid making those mistakes.

During a QnA meeting about finance, Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa, when asked how Nintendo will transition from the Switch when the studio decides to release new hardware, said that the studio wants the transition to hardware. the next generation “as smooth as possible”. When it comes to transitioning from the Wii to the Wii U and expanding from the DS to the 3DS, there are certainly some notable growing difficulties.

Nintendo

Wii U was released in November 2012 with the ambition to compete with PS4 and Xbox One.

It’s important to note that Furukawa doesn’t fully endorse the development of any new consoles, but it’s certainly nice to know that Nintendo is being a little more clever in releasing new technology. For many handheld owners, the Nintendo 3DS was a pretty cool system, but the 3D implementation caused a lot of problems in the early days of its release and wasn’t really used to its full potential. great results in most other games.

Over the past few decades, there have been numerous instances of Nintendo hardware failing, but the success the studio has gleaned from other ventures and systems has overtaken less successful consoles. Even so, it looks like Nintendo will continue to support the Switch and its users in the coming years, which is something Furukawa reinforced during the press conference. Furukawa stated that Nintendo is “focused on building long-term relationships with (their) consumers.”

In any case, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for Nintendo hardware going forward. It doesn’t seem likely that any new hardware will release any time soon, but it’s possible that Nintendo could release another variant of the Nintendo Switch similar to the Nintendo Switch OLED in the coming months.
