Kodoani.com – The following part contains spoilers for One Piece Chapter 1046“Raizo,”
Earlier, in One PIece Chapter 1045, Kaido and Luffy continued their fight since Luffy awakened his Devil Fruit. He has demonstrated some of his new abilities and powers, showing that he can transfer the rubber properties of his body to Kaido at will. He also reveals that he can also become giant before continuing to use Kaido as a jump rope. Everyone who saw Luffy was shocked at Luffy’s survival and new form, his hair and clothes were now pure white. Despite this, Kaido remained steadfast in his belief that no one could defeat him, but Luffy was undaunted. When the two clashed, Luffy was able to smack Kaido in the back, asking him, “Is this fun, Kaido?!!”
Chapter 1046 starts right back to Luffy wondering what to call that final attack. Kaido sat up, held his head and asked Luffy who he was. Luffy looked at him curiously before Zunesha began to reminisce about defeating the Drums of Liberation and Joyboy, saying it was almost as if he were there. When Zunesha suggested that they should put their hopes on Luffy, the Straw Hat captain answered Kaido’s question, proudly declaring himself Monkey D. Luffy, the future Pirate King.
Kaido smiles widely, explaining to Luffy that he is going through a Devil Fruit Awakening and that he has finally harnessed the full potential of his bizarre abilities. He said that Kaido had lost everything he had built up in this fight, but guessed that Luffy had also lost a lot. Luffy declares that he still hasn’t backed down and still has something to take back. Kaido responds to this with a Swarm of Kundali Dragons, quickly knocking Luffy down with his kanabo. Luffy’s body just matched the weapon’s shape before countering with a barrage of punches.
As the two struggled to catch their breath, the smoke and fumes from the fire below finally reached the roof of the Skull Dome. Luffy starts coughing from the smoke, Kaido points out that the fire has taken over the entire castle and everyone below will die. Luffy just laughed, explaining that he was letting everyone else take charge when all he had to do was defeat Kaido. He turned towards Kaido with all his might. Kadip tries to stop Luffy from getting closer with a Demolition Gust attack, but Luffy just stretches his legs to let his body dodge the attack.
On the Performance Floor, all the remaining fighters are trying to find a way out of hell. Chopper and Nami found each other, Chopper said he couldn’t find any of their friends and thought they were all trapped in the fire. This worries Nami as the entire island is engulfed in flames and there is no way to escape unless the island hits the ground. Chopper asks Zeus about using his rain, but the cloud is also terrified of the flames.
In the Basement, Briscola and a group of fighter planes were completely surrounded by fire, with no escorts in sight. On Level 1, Bepo and his party are also having trouble escaping the flames, begging the captain to save them. In another area of the Basement, a group of samurai panic when they see Brook, thinking he’s lost his skin in the fire. He tries to assure them he’s always been like that before turning to Robin and saying they need to get everyone out. Robin, however, does not think there is a way out. Sanji and the women are trying to get out of the Fun Hall, but they’re also having a hard time.
Elsewhere, Apoo and Inbi are also trying to get out of the Basement, and Inbi burns her hand trying to punch through one of the walls. Apoo scolds him for stopping and yells at him to keep going, which only angers the Numbers member more. Usopp and Hamlet were also trapped below, Usopp trying to extinguish the flames with his Sprinkler. Hamlet tells Usopp that he was just wasting energy, but Usopp remains determined, Kiku and Kin’emon out because he promised Izo he would do so forgetting to mention Hamlet in the process. In the Right Brain Tower, Franky is carrying Zoro on his shoulders, trying to make his way to Chopper for medical help. Following him is a group of lost people, begging him to save them.
On Level 4, Jimbei and Raizo are carrying out their plan. Raizo thanks Jimbei for putting his trust in him, Jimbei saying that because Luffy trusts the samurai, so does he. Raizo, motivated by his failure to help the Kozuki family escape their own burning castle 20 years ago, prepares to carry out his plan. In a flashback, he experiences Zunesha washing herself, amazed at how much water it uses. He finally reveals his Ninpo: Scroll-Scroll Jutsu, The Elephant’s Bath, which creates a large water pipe. Jimbei marveled at its size before drawing water and redirecting it to put out the fire in the castle.
The water flows down to Level 3, where Blackback’s party is surrounded by flames, but is then swept into the fast-flowing water. The water splashed through the walls and flowed through the corridors to put out the fire. Jimbei encouraged Raizo to keep going until the entire castle was flooded, the ninja continued to focus on saving everyone. The water eventually reached Level 1 as soon as Killer’s party got stuck on the stairs.
Outside, Yamato lunges at Momonosuke, but Momo is confused because Kaido is still alive. Yamato explains that while that is true, he has reached his limit and the Flame clouds will soon disappear. Momo needs to create things strong enough to hold the island herself; Onigashima is about to fall. The chapter ends with Luffy in the air above Kaido, lightning flashing behind him, Luffy clutching one of the bolts.
