Chapter 1047 begins with Momonosuke struggling to find the confidence to create Clouds of Fire. He thought back to the last time he saw his mother alive, which encouraged him to try again. Above him, Luffy showed off his lightning ability to Kaido as the two continued to confront each other. Beneath Onigashima, the people of the Flower Capital released Sky Boats, each with a wish written on it. The remaining samurai had a better understanding of their situation thanks to Hyogoro, but they remained steadfast in the hope that Kaido would be defeated. Orochi was able to use his Devil Fruit powers and threatened to defeat Hiyori with him. Finally, Luffy prepares a massive punch attack and asks Momonosuke to move the island out of the way, fully intending to end the fight once and for all.
In Chapter 1048Luffy and Momonosuke continue to argue about moving Onigashima. Momo insists it’s impossible, but thinking about his family, he took the initiative to crash headfirst into the island to move it. With Momo trying to move the island, Luffy noticed Kaido. Kaido stood firm, asking Luffy if he knew that Kozuki Oden was burned to death 20 years ago.
As he spoke, flames erupted from Kaido’s mouth and engulfed his body. Kaido continued his speech, saying that the people of Wano were waiting for someone to come save them. The heat from Kaido’s flames burned Luffy’s left hand, which was still holding the dragon. Kaido tells him that he has no intention of going anywhere. He believes that Luffy’s right fist will not drop because he will melt it.
A portion of Kaido’s tail touches one of the Skull Dome’s horns, causing it to completely melt. Luffy and Kaido prepare their attacks as Luffy rethinks his training with Hyogoro, learning how to perform an attack without even touching his opponent. They unleash their attacks – Gum-Gum Bajrang Gun and Rising Dragon Flame Bagua – causing a blinding explosion in the process.
Elsewhere, Kikunojo and Kin’emon were swept away by strong currents. Usopp panics, tries to grab them before they drown or succumb to their injuries, and he begs them not to die. Beneath the Skull Dome, the samurai cheered on Luffy. Kawamatsu stands between them, knowing that Wano will continue to suffer unless Kaido is defeated.
In a flashback, the vassals attempt to escape as Oden dies in the giant urn. A gun shot rang out. Orochi tells Kaido that they are going to Kuri to protect Oden’s son, Momonosuke. Kaido looks at the pot of boiling water and says he will go find Momo himself. Viewers begged Kaido to stop hunting for Kozuki’s family, but he beat them back with his kanabo. Orochi encouraged the slaughter of anyone who tried to stop them, and many were shot down by the Animal Kingdom pirates.
When Oden Castle burned, Toki was confirmed dead and the entire clan was said to have been completely wiped out. Orochi and Kaido confront Daimyo, asking if they will side with them or try to stop them from taking Wano. Daimyo of Udon, Ringo, Hakumai and Kibi, rejecting the offer and rushing forward, fully intending to try to protect their country and avenge Oden. Kaido unleashes a breath attack on them, with more samurai assisting them. Orochi laughed at the samurai group’s efforts and watched Kaido continue to slaughter.
Factories were built and the people of Wano were forced to create weapons. All men eligible for work were taken from their families and enslaved. The water was polluted and the crops withered and died, along with the people. If they don’t die of hunger, they die of exhaustion. Even so, the survivors try to keep the hope that help will come.
Those who were pushed to their limits by eating what was left of the Faulty Smile Fruit, laughed uncontrollably. This amused Orochi, and he danced right before his eyes. He believes it’s what they all deserve.
Today’s Orochi continued to burn as he prepared to kill Hiyori, with the intention of sending her to the Underworld with him. Just as she seems to accept her fate, she is saved by Denjiro, who beheaded Orochi. A panel flashes to one of the Sky Boats with a wish asking for Orochi to disappear. Many expressed their demand for an end to suffering and clean water. The chapter ends with Kaido and Luffy facing each other in the sky above Onigashima.
