In One Piece, Zoro’s connection to Ryuma and Wano is unknown, but as Chapter # 1023 has reminded us, it’s important to keep in mind.
In Chapter #1023 of the One Piece manga, Kawamatsu and Hyogoro provide some interesting insights into why Hiyori gave Zoro the Enma sword, which once belonged to her father Kozuki Oden. Zoro bears a striking resemblance to Shimotsuki Ushimaru. Zoro not only resembles Ringo’s Daimyo but also uses the same sword style as him. Ushimaru, as we all know, is a descendant of Shimotsuki Ryuma, the Sword God. Kawamatsu draws the conclusion that fate brought Zoro to Wano, explaining that Ryuma is also a one-eyed samurai.
Once a great swordsman of Wano, Ryuma later became d9o6i3 after his corpse was stolen by Gecko Moria and reincarnated by Brook’s shadow. While he is a villain in the Thriller Bark installment of One Piece, he also appears in a scene called The Monster. In this one shot, we see a younger Ryuma, and he’s the image of Zoro.
This isn’t just a coincidence or a result of Oda’s artistic style – it raises the question of whether Zoro’s hometown is Wano Country. We know he trained at a dojo in the village of Shimotsuki as a child, named after Shimotsuki Kozaburo. It is possible that his parents are also from the Shimotsuki family and from Wano. Everything about Zoro fits the aesthetic of the country, and he also has the same blood type as Ryuma, which is XF. After what happened to Sanji, it became clear that blood type can provide important information about a person.
It seems fate has brought Zoro to Wano and Zoro will be instrumental in releasing it. Not only was he given the Enma, but he also learned new techniques. He returned the sword Shusui, once Ryuma’s weapon, to Wano. Everything seems to indicate that Zoro is a member of the Shimotsuki family in some way. Most likely, he is a descendant of Ushimaru and by extension Ryuma. It’s no coincidence that he brought Shusui to Wano and used katana in his fighting style.
How this will affect One Piece’s story is still unclear, but Oda seems to be hinting that it’s hugely important to the country Zoro has come from. With so many people recognizing his resemblance to Ryuma, there’s bound to be something bigger here.
