The most famous ships in One Piece, Going Merry and Thousand Sunny, belong to the Straw Hat Pirates. However, the work also brings many ships with extremely impressive designs.
With the exception of ships bearing the traditional Jolly Roger emblem with a crossbones skull, each crew’s pirate ship usually has its own distinctive character. The color, shape, and size all represent the origin or goals of the pirates in the crew.
Most One Piece fans take the time to learn the origin and name of each ship. If they want to cross the Great Line to find the treasure of One Piece, they will need a sturdy ship to go with them through all events.
In this article, let’s take a look at the ships with the most impressive designs in One Piece.
The Donquixote Pirates used to be an underground force that dominated the whole Kingdom of Dressrosa, in which Doflamingo was the captain of the crew and the one who quietly ruled the kingdom.
After defeating the Straw Hat Pirates and the Heart Pirates, the Donquixote Pirates disbanded. Most of the crew members were imprisoned by Admiral Fujitora, while Doflamingo no longer retained the right to rule the kingdom nor the title of Shichibukai.
The crew’s pirate ship, Numancia Flamingo, seems to have been inspired by Oda’s inspiration from the Spanish kingdom’s Numancia ship. Numancia was the first iron ship to circumnavigate the globe.
The Numancia Flamingo is shaped like a giant flamingo, and it wears Doflamingo’s signature sunglasses that perfectly match his fashion sense.
This ship first appeared in the North Blue waters when the crew first entered the Grand Line.
In any story set in the ocean, there are always ghost ships that appear. The most prominent among them is the Flying Dutchman, also known as the Flying Dutchman, this is the ship that is often mentioned in maritime culture.
The legend of the Dutch ship Bay, a ship that cannot dock and must wander the seas forever is real in the world of One Piece. Although the current state looks “dirty” and dilapidated, it is still the oldest ship of the work, up to centuries old.
The former captain of this ship murdered his entire crew due to his obsession with the ancient weapon Poseidon. Currently, the ship and its crew are still at sea under the guidance of Van Decken IX, Van Decken’s eighth grandson.
Queen Mama Chanter
A former Yonko and one of the most powerful Devil Fruit powers in One Piece, Big Mom brought her ship to life by injecting her soul into it. With a candy-inspired look, this ship has a rather playful personality and is constantly singing.
At 637.5 meters tall, the Queen Mama Chanter is the second largest known pirate ship in the work. Undoubtedly the flagship ship of the Big Mom Pirates’ fleet, it will lead both Big Mom and the Charlotte family in battle.
On Women’s Island is the Amazon Lily empire and its inhabitants from the Kuja tribe. While the World Government considers the entire Kuja tribe to be pirates, in reality only elite warriors are selected to join the Kuja Pirates.
The ice ship, the Perfume Yuda, resembles a Chinese sailing ship. That includes a pink mansion in the middle to house the crew.
Since Amazon Lily was located in the middle of the Ring of Silence, the Kuja crew used two tamed sea snakes to guide the boat, which were snakes that the Neptunes wouldn’t dare attack.
Dracule Mihawk is one of One Piece’s greatest mysteries. As the world-famous former Seven Sea Warriors and pirate hunter, not much information about Mihawk’s origin and life has been revealed.
The only thing One Piece fans know is that Mihawk single-handedly challenged many opponents, even destroying an entire fleet by himself. This earned him the title of the strongest Swordsman in the world.
Mihawk’s boat is like a craft with the shape of a coffin, the mast has the shape of a cross and looks like the Yoru sword he wields. This is indeed a ship that is somewhat modest compared to Mihawk’s stature.
The Barto Club is currently active in the New World, in which Captain Bartolomeo and Gambia are the only two members of the crew whose identities have been revealed. The other 56 members are known only as childhood friends or “social brothers” who know each other.
Both crew are fans of Luffy and the Straw Hats. Their ship acts as the representative of the “Luffy fan club”, with Luffy at the front and Chopper as the stern. This ship even has a sheep’s head in the center, similar to the Going Merry.
The Polar Tang doesn’t look like an ordinary pirate ship, but it certainly belongs on the list of the best pirate ships. Owning it is a bold decision of Law, representing the eccentric personality of the Heart Pirates. According to One Piece Novel Law, this ship was given to the crew by a man named Wolf.
The Polar Tang contains an advanced medical room where Law can perform surgeries. Thanks to this ship’s unique features, they managed to escape from Aokiji and Marineford with Luffy during the Battle of the Summit.
When it comes to size, the Thriller Bark ranks as the largest pirate ship. According to Brook, it was once an island in the West Blue before moving to the Florian Triangle, which was inspired by the Bermuda Triangle, where many ships disappeared and returned without one.
Thriller Bark represents the story and its haunting appearance, as well as the entire crew of undead zombies. Only Noah and perhaps Pluton could match this ark in age and size.
Like the Thriller Bark, the Island Ship is carved from an island. The captain of the Golden Lion Pirates, Shiki, lifted it into the air and was able to fly thanks to the power of the Fuwa Fuwa no Mi. This also means that this is the second ship to use Devil Fruit powers to fly, after Enel’s Ark Maxim.
All materials to make Island Ship are based on nature. Tall trees were used as masts, and the base of the ship was made of land. Unfortunately, this ship was eventually destroyed. With such a powerful ship, it’s no surprise that Shanks won the title of Yonko after defeating the Golden Lions.
Although it is uncertain whether Pluton is a pirate ship, it is theoretically possible that Pluton is still in the form of a ship and is an Ancient Weapon. It is also the strongest and oldest ship, provided that it remains undamaged.
There is a theory that Pluton is hidden in Alabasta. Only two shipbuilders from Water 7, Franky and Iceburg, had seen the Pluton blueprints, and no one else knew anything about the ship.
During the Void Century, the Ancient Kingdom used Pluton against the World Government, sending part of Jaya Island into the sky.
