Would Luffy still awaken his Devil Fruit if CP0 hadn’t interfered in his battle with the Yonko Kaido in One Piece?
In One Piece chapter 1042, a CP0 guy suddenly interfered in Luffy’s battle. This caused him to be attacked by Yonko Kaido, as Luffy did not have enough time to use the attack he was about to launch.
Kaido is so angry about it, that in One Piece chapter 1043, he seems to have killed CP0 as well. So, what if CP0 didn’t intervene when Luffy fought the Yonko Kaido? Here is the hypothesis!
1. Even without CP0 interference, Luffy might still lose at that point
Since One Piece chapter 1041, Luffy has said that it will be his last use of Gear 4. In chapter 1042, he seems ready to launch an attack that could be the last attack. Luffy said that if it’s not enough, I’ll lose.
Now, everyone, look what happened to Kaido right now. He suffered some powerful attacks from Gear 5 but was still able to continue fighting.
So, even if Luffy manages to deliver the attack he prepared in One Piece chapter 1042, if it hits Kaido, there’s a chance he’ll still survive the attack. At this point Luffy will lose.
But in that case, the CP0 was not defeated by Kaido because he did not interfere in the fight.
2. Luffy awakened devil fruit or not?
Even without being disturbed, there is a good chance that Luffy will still lose to Kaido. But assuming he wasn’t interfered by CP0, would Luffy awaken his Devil Fruit?
We still don’t know for sure what woke him up. Is it because you don’t want to lose to Kaido?
If that was the only cause, then after Luffy was defeated by Kaido without any interference from CP0, he might wake up. But there is also another possibility.
First, in One Piece chapter 1042, Luffy is ready to launch a powerful attack. Logically he would put all of his remaining energy into that attack, as Luffy also knew that this was his final attack. But he never got the chance to release it, because he was suddenly interrupted by CP0.
For example, what if this action actually caused a portion of the unused attack’s energy to remain in Luffy’s body? After that, it helped him to return and awaken the Devil Fruit?
I think like this, maybe if Luffy managed to launch that attack, he might completely run out of energy. Then, after being defeated by Kaido, Luffy was unable to stand up even though he should have awakened the Devil Fruit.
Second, I really suspect that one of the factors that helped Luffy awaken was his displeasure when his fight with Kaido suddenly ended like in chapter 1042. Before he had a chance to attack, Luffy was interfered by CP0.
Kaido was not satisfied with this. I think Luffy feels the same way. I wouldn’t be surprised if this really woke you up.
Because Luffy wanted to keep fighting, his fight with Kaido was interrupted, and that helped awaken Luffy’s Devil Fruit. His determination can still burn even after being defeated, because Luffy’s defeat was caused by other factors.
Meanwhile, if for example Kaido defeated Luffy without help, he probably wouldn’t have felt that way. And Luffy was able to attack, but Kaido was still able to defend, then counterattack.
Such a loss really has the potential to make Luffy unable to rise again. Because you will feel disappointed after you put all your strength into that attack.
3. So did CP0’s interference really help Luffy wake up?
Based on the above explanation, I suspect that CP0’s interference actually helped Luffy awaken the Devil Fruit. I feel there is a possibility that if you and Kaido fight continuously, Luffy will run out of energy and be defeated by the opponent. After that, he may not be able to get up again, either because he has completely run out of energy, or because he is attacked by Kaido again.
Meanwhile, due to CP0’s intervention, the consequences we can all see now. Despite being hit by Kaido, Luffy has now awakened his Devil Fruit and has become much stronger.
It would be interesting if it turns out that the Five Elders’ attempts to kill Luffy inadvertently make him even more dangerous! But of course, this is just my theory! We’ll see later if Oda clearly explains that there are factors behind Luffy’s Devil Fruit awakening.
What do you think? What if the CP0 didn’t intervene when Luffy fought the Yonko Kaido? Please write comments!
