One Piece Chapter 1017 has a scene where Zoro requests a dangerous potion that can heal him, but its consequences can be catastrophic for the swordsman.
With the way events are unfolding in One Piece’s Onigashima Raid, the Straw Hats and their group of Wano rebels are still in a predicament. Kaido is still as strong as ever, only 2 Tobiroppos have crashed, 3 Akazaya Nines are standing on the threshold of death, and Luffy is in the process of recovering with the help of Heart Pirates. So, of course, now is the time for Zoro to step up, proving once again what makes him the first friend in Chapter #1017.
As the performance hall was enveloped in chaos by Beast Pirates and Samurai, the outcome of the battle was only in the alliance’s favor. O-Tama’s voice reached all the Gifters who ate her Dango, so they pledged allegiance to Luffy and Momonosuke to defeat Kaido. However, it’s unlikely that this spike in new recruits will be enough to take down any strong man, which is why Zoro decided to do something reckless – and in typical Zoro fashion.
Since Chapter #1012 of One Piece, Zoro has been in a full body state recovering from the injuries he received from Kaido. With Sanji carrying this goofy-looking cross-shaped ice burrito, it appears that Oda has been spying on Trigun and decided to throw a Nicholas D. Wolfwood reference into One Piece. Luckily, the weaselkin tribe’s doctor, Miyagi, might have a way to bring Zoro back into the fray.
As Miyagi explains to “Baby Geezer” Chopper, he carries some super regenerative potion from Zou that can bring Zoro back to a combat state. However, this will only be a temporary solution and once too much stress on his body will be doubly worse.
Zoro, of course, doesn’t mind the slightest risk, asking Miyagi to only give zoro the medicine. They are not in a situation where they can pass up any opportunity that could improve their chances of winning. Zoro realizes that, saying “The only thing that matters is being able to fight now!”
What One Piece fans love about Zoro is the swordsman’s selfless sacrifice and unwavering loyalty in fighting for his Nakama. He put himself through too many punishments, not even considering the consequences for a second as long as it would produce a victory or even just mean the survival of his friends.
One of his best moments that illustrate this is at the end of One Piece’s Thriller Bark. To save the lives of the captain and his comrades, Zoro bore all the pain Luffy went through that day along with Kuma’s Paw-Paw Power. The experience is horrible and even has a lasting impact in Sabaody, but when Sanji asks exactly what happened, Zoro simply replies that “nothing happened” despite the blood all around him. .
Zoro would shoulder all the burden for his friends and not even mention it. He was good with a sword, but not much else, so he made up for it by going through hell and back for his Nakama’s sake. It’s likely that whatever happens after Chapter #1017, by the end of the chapter he will be in an even more horrifying state after his clash with Kuma. But knowing Zoro is the stubborn loyal type, he won’t complain to Luffy, Sanji or anyone until this is all over.
