With the Overwatch 2 beta coming soon, streamers are sharing the gameplay of the new remakes, and Bastion looks oddly strong.
As many will no doubt know, Overwatch 2 is making the big switch to 5v5 matches. With this change, many characters need to be reworked to fit the Overwatch 2 style, and one of the biggest updates is for Bastion. Bastion’s remake essentially makes him a whole new hero, as it changes some fundamental aspects of the character. Bastion has always been an extremely niche position and is rarely used in the game due to his mobility, so these changes are very welcome. After all, once a player learns to focus a Bastion, they get killed quickly without much of a chance to do anything. In Overwatch 2, however, Bastion is much more mobile, and a recent clip shows just how intimidating Bastion can be after adjustments have been made to his kit.
The clip shared shows Overwatch fans calling Bastion “the funniest hero ever” following his major changes. In the clip, all of Bastion’s new abilities are on display. The clip begins with Bastion players using their tactical grenades to launch themselves onto a rooftop, with the hero being able to get a surprising distance from the device. Once they landed on the other side, they were able to take out the enemy Bastion because no one would have expected them to come from the angle they did.
In this first fight and throughout the clip, it’s very clear that Bastion’s infinite ammo while in turret mode is a game changer. Combining this with the Tactical Grenade to create unique hit points looks like an interesting strategy, although given the rapid speed at which Bastion can shoot down unsuspecting enemies, it’s unlikely. consider him to be a bit overwhelming. However, considering how big the Sombra buff is, perhaps Blizard’s goal is to make every hero significantly stronger in the next game.
The Overwatch 2 beta is only a few days away, so many players will soon get a chance to try out Bastion’s new set. Based on this footage, the hero is incredibly powerful, to the point where some gamers may require a nerf before the game launches properly.
