As a horror adventure game released by Night School Studio in 2016 for handheld systems (console), it took until 1 year after Oxenfree officially set foot on Android / iOS systems.
Oxenfree is about the adventures of a group of young people on an anomalous island, they accidentally awaken an ancient supernatural force. Players will play the blue-haired girl Alex, accompanying her is a group of friends and her stepbrother on a tour of a mysterious island left over from World War 2. The story in the game begins when Alex. Along with his two best friends, Ren and Jonas, discover mysterious whispers in the radio.
A big incident happened after that, the group lost each other. From here, Alex’s mission is to find the remaining people and escape from the island. Throughout the game, there will only be one tool to support the player, which is a pocket radio. The game focuses a lot on the puzzle element, so the player will have to manipulate the radio to find useful instructions, based on which to successfully escape.
However, in the near future, Oxenfree will be replaced by a new version. This version brings many benefits to players, but also a worrying future for this title. Specifically, Oxenfree will be replaced with the version released by Netflix. This new gameplay brings many bug fixes, stability improvements and support for new mobile devices and 24 pre-translated languages.
However, one problem is that players will buy this game on the Netflix platform. Gamers are concerned that they will lose this game completely in the event that Netflix has problems, such as server problems or disappears in the future. The Android version of Oxenfree will also have to make way for the game released by Netflix. This also means that gamers who don’t subscribe to Netflix won’t be able to download Oxenfree. Moreover, when Netflix expires, gamers will lose access to this game.
