“I was young, I didn’t think it was that hard to earn money.” That is the explanation for the son’s act of “burning money” into the game.
Ms. Chow and her husband found that a large amount of their money was flying when it was due to pay for the house. They discovered that their son – Xiao Chen, for the past 1 year had stolen a lot of money to load into the game.
The incident happened on September 3 in Chongqing, China. With no other choice, Mrs. Chow and her husband had to sell their house and move out.
Responding to the press, Xiao Chen – a 12-year-old boy said:
“I was young, so I didn’t know that my parents made money so hard, I knew it was my fault.” The boy hopes the game publisher can pay him back. The game publisher has not yet commented on the incident.
Specifically, Ms. Chow went to the bank to withdraw money and was about to make a regular installment payment to buy a house when she discovered that the balance in the card was more than 170,000 yuan, equivalent to 600 million dong:
“My card has more than 200,000 yuan, but when it comes to withdrawing, there are only a few thousand small.” Mrs. Chow recounted.
After asking the bank to print out the invoice statement, Ms. Chow discovered that there were many small transactions over the past year, most of which were for game deposits and game-related spending. She said:
“From a few dozen to several thousand yuan, it’s really too much, one day it is 13 times to top up 588 yuan, another day it is 3,000 yen.
It was only when the money was so large that Ms. Chow discovered it was her 12-year-old son who had stolen it. The boy admitted to loading the game with a Wechat account linked to the bank, the payment password was also known by this kid while shopping with his mother.
Ms. Chow said, her and her husband’s salary is not high, the money in the card is used to pay the house debt, now her son has spent most of it so they can only sell the house and move out.
Standing in front of his parents, the 12-year-old boy apologized for not knowing that money was so hard to earn, because he was young, so he didn’t know anything, and hoped that the game publisher could return the money to him. The reporter contacted the game platform the boy had deposited money on but did not receive a response.
