Kodoani.com – Saturday’s Jump Festa ’22 event reveals that Tatsuki Fujimoto will launch manga second season Chainsaw Man on the Shounen Jump+ app in summer 2022. The second part will feature “Gakko-hen” (Arc School).
Fujimoto launched the manga in Weekly Shonen Jump in December 2018 and ended its “first part”, with the “Kōan” (Public Safety) story section, in December 2020.
The manga was nominated for the 13th Manga Taisho Awards in 2019, and was ranked 4th on Kono Manga ga Sugoi! The Top Guidebook of 2020 (This Manga Is Amazing!) For Male Readers. The manga won the Best Shōnen Manga category at the 66th Shogakukan Manga Awards in January. Plus, the manga tops the Kono Manga ga Sugoi! The 2021 list is for male readers. The series won Best Manga at The Harvey Awards in October.
Viz Media is publishing the manga simultaneously online and is also publishing the manga in print. Shueisha’s MANGA Plus service is also publishing the manga in English digitally. Viz Media describes the story:
Denji is a poor young man who will do anything for money, even hunting demons with his pet dog Pochita. The guy is a simple man with simple dreams, drowning under a mountain of debt. But his sad life is turned upside down one day when he is betrayed by someone he trusts. Now with the power of a demon inside of him, Denji has become a whole new man — Chainsaw!
The manga is getting a television anime adaptation at studio MAPPA (Jujutsu Kaisen, Dorohedoro, Attack on Titan The Final Season). Ryū Nakayama is directing the anime.
