Even before the end of July 21, the movie Conan achieved more than 10 times the revenue of Tom Cruise’s blockbuster action film.
Released in Japan this past April, the latest movie in the Detective Conan franchise has swept the box office and social media, quickly setting new records for the series. Even in this 26th film, the revenue has reached more than 10 billion yen at the Japanese box office in less than 1 month, something that no Conan movie has ever done. Currently, it is the highest-grossing Conan film ever and also the highest-grossing film in Japan in 2023.

Conan and a group of close friends happened to go to Hachijo Island to see whales at the invitation of the girl Sonoko. Here, Conan was to Pacific Buoy – a special maritime headquarters of Interpol International Criminal Police Organization. Here connect the global security cameras on the island. An Interpol employee was murdered leading to a series of intriguing episodes that followed. Haibara’s life (former Black Organization member with the code name Sherry) is threatened when her true identity is revealed.
The organization kidnapped Haibara on suspicion of being Sherry after learning facial recognition and image-based tracing technology from her childhood. It was from the advanced camera system, integrated AI artificial intelligence and the ability to find anyone’s whereabouts, that the Foundation brought Haibara into the spotlight.
The work Conan saves Haibara from the clutches of the Organization as well as finding the real culprit who killed an Interpol employee brings a lot of suspense and attraction to viewers. This is also the “all-star” rated movie of the Conan movie series. When little Haibara becomes the central character for the first time, secrets about her past are gradually revealed. Along with that, the duo of hot characters – FBI member Akai Shuichi and police officer Furuya Rei in the identity of Bourbon officially reunited in this movie.

For young audiences, an attractive factor is the epic setting and eye-catching action scenes in the film. It can be said that the film 26 has invested a lot to create the image of “war of the century” that is both impressive, breathtaking, and extremely creative. Besides, the characters in the Black Organization are always attractive in the script. Conan and Haibara’s counterpart in this part is Gin – the mainstay of the Organization. In particular, in this movie, Gin and his henchmen Vodka are the masterminds in poisoning the student detective Shinichi Kudo with a poison that turns him back into the form of an elementary school student. The conflict between Gin and Vodka makes the film even more dramatic at the end.
The film satisfied the audience with both the script and the beautiful visual elements, although the crime-solving part was not really deepened in Movie 26. However, viewers were still satisfied with Conan’s case-solving process with sharp arguments. In the movie 26, the audience also feels the beautiful friendship between Conan and Haibara when they are willing to do anything, despite the danger to protect their friend.
