Sumire Uesaka voices Purin-Chu-Penguin in the anime that premieres on April 29 and later in 2022
Kodoani.com – The staff for two general anime series Re: cycle of Penguindrum director Kunihiko Ikuhara debuted the full trailer for the film on Monday. The trailer introduces newly created footage of the second film, announces and previews the second film’s song “Boku no Sonzai Shōmei (Proof of My Existene) by Etsuko Yakushimaru’s Yakushimaru Etsuko Metro Orchestra, and at the same time introduced a new character and voice cast.

Screenwriter Takayo Ikami, character designer Terumi Nishii, composer Yukari Hashimoto, art director Chieko Nakamura (Studio Cocolo), icon designer Wataru Osakabe, sound director Yō Yamada and sound effects artist Tomokazu Mitsui bars are all returning from the original television anime series. (Ikuhara co-wrote the script and co-directed the sound, just as he did for the television anime, and Tomomi Kawatsuma also designed the characters.) The other staff includes:

The film project will edit all 24 episodes of the television anime, and add many new scenes and characters.
Ikuhara is directing the project, and Lily Hoshino is credited for the original character designs. (Hoshino drew the illustration above of the Crystal Princess for the 10th anniversary.) Brains Base is also credited with producing the original television version, while Lapin Track is producing the film version.
Ikuhara commented that the staff still hear a lot of comments from fans of Penguindrum, and he is glad that the characters are still alive in their hearts. Referencing the story, he added, “Should we use methods to win together again on this 10th anniversary?”
The first part, Kimi no Ressha wa Seizon Senryaku (Your Train Is the Survival Strategy), will hit theaters on April 29, and the second part will hit theaters later this year.
The original anime by director Kunihiko Ikuhara ( Revolution Girl Utena , Yuri Kuma Arashi , several Sailor Moon TV series ) aired in 2011. Otome Yōkai Zakuro manga creator Lily Hoshino handled the original character designs for the 24-episode television series.
The psychosocial story begins when a girl named Himari Takakura dies after traveling with brothers Kanba and Shōma. A spirit wearing a penguin hat appeared and miraculously saved her. However, in order to save Himari’s life, the two brothers must search for Penguindrum’s soul. A trio of strange penguins accompanies the siblings on their quest.
Sentai Filmworks released the anime on DVD and Blu-ray Disc in North America. Ikuhara and Kei Takahashi published the novel adaptation in three volumes from July 2011 to February 2012. Isuzu Shibata began adapting the manga in 2013 and finished it in 2017. Seven Seas is publishing the novel. and manga version in English.
