Despite being praised, but Ponyo was underestimated by many fans but deserves to be in the top 5 films of Studio Ghibli. Here’s why.

The purity and innocence of Ponyo is shown through her relationship with Sosuke. They’re just kids with no ill intentions and treat each other like caring friends. Ponyo, the adventurous little fish or mermaid who just wants to explore the world around her, falls in love with Sosuke. But her love isn’t the kind you’ll see in a movie featuring older characters – her love is a pure love that can only be considered pure.
One of the most important factors that attract viewers when watching Ponyo is that all its characters are well designed, full of attractive visuals along with lots of ideas. The mother, Lisa, is working and taking care of her son while her husband Koichi works on a fishing boat. She’s lonely but still a good mother, as shown in the movie. Older women living in luxury homes are also a real pleasure.
From underwater scenes to terrestrial scenes, images of Ponyo are all attractive. The beautiful colors and way of drawing the sea amuses children as well as adults. Going back to the voice cast, the studio really leans towards the English dub because with some well-known names in the cast. Tina Fey plays Lisa, Cate Blanchett plays Grandmammare, Frank Jonas plays Sosuke, and Ponyo is played by Miley Cyrus’ sister Noah – a cast that’s too good but still doesn’t stop the anime from being one of those hit movies Studio Ghibli’s lowest price.
Ponyo It also differs from its films in that it is hand-animated as many films released in 2008-09 did not. This makes it even more appealing as it is superbly executed. The technicality and use of the camera is still amazing to this day. The story is based on magic, but it still has a reality-based feel. Combining the two is just enough for viewers to really believe what’s going on.
Some people claim that Ponyo So simple, it’s purely for kids – but that’s exactly what makes it so great. It’s a movie the whole family can watch and generations can connect with the characters on screen. It is so clean that viewers cannot take their eyes off the TV screen. Ponyo offers a unique look at childhood with bright, vibrant colors and will take viewers back to childhood.
