Ken Takahashi is directing the film at studio SILVER LINK., which is the studio’s fifth anime project of the year. Deko Akao is handling the script and series layout while Shinpei Aoki is in charge of character designs. Chiaki Kobayashi, known recently for his role as Gabimaru in the film Heaven and hell and Mash from Mashle: Magic and brawn, voices the main male character Ragna. Joining him was co-star Inori Minase, known for her role as Rem in Re: No and Hestia from DanMachiLeo’s voice actor.
Ragna is dark red is an anime adaptation of Daiki Kobayashi’s manga, which began serialization on Square Enix’s Gangan Joker monthly in March 2017. The series is currently ongoing and has a total of 12 episodes. Square Enix is also publishing the manga in English with the first 10 volumes already in print. Ragna is dark red Volume 11 (English) is scheduled for release on November 21, 2023. Kobayashi’s other works include Blue sky (2010) et Satsui no Senki (2014).
