Rebellion has apologized to players who had hoped to purchase the recently released Sniper Elite 5 through the Epic Games Store.
The title, which was originally scheduled to be released on the Epic Games Store this week alongside other versions of the game, is available now for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox Game Pass, PS4, PS5 and PC on Steam and Windows Store. While the game was available for pre-order on the Epic Games Store, the game was pulled from the store prior to release and refunded to customers.
The situation was resolved as follows: “Due to circumstances beyond our control, Sniper Elite 5 will not currently be available on the Epic Store at launch but will release on the platform in the future” they “We are fully sorry for these inconveniences.” The title is currently listed as “coming soon” on the Epic Game Store. “If you pre-ordered through Epic, you should have received your refund, otherwise please contact them at the home page,” reads on the game’s support website.
Several users on Twitter reported earlier this month that they received refunds for the game even though they didn’t claim it at all. Sniper Elite 5 is set in France in 1944, players will play the role of an elite member of the US Rangers. As Karl Fairburne, the player teams up with the French Resistance to disrupt a secret Nazi project that threatens to end the war before the Allies get involved.
Rebellion says it has used photometric technology to help recreate locations in Europe with a high level of detail created based on real structures. The map features multiple entry points and exploits, allowing the player to reach the target in more ways than was possible in previous installments of the series.
Sniper Elite 5 will include 2 solo or co-op game modes. In addition, the game will also have an invasion mode that allows players to enter other players’ worlds to hunt them down. Players can also call in a second sniper to help in certain situations through this cool feature.
