A reputable leaker revealed disappointing information about Resident Evil 9, but it's not completely bad news for series fans.
Recent comments from a reputable leaker suggest that the reveal of Resident Evil 9 may take longer than expected, as the project may have been delayed internally. The Resident Evil franchise remains one of Capcom's biggest moneymakers, and so it was inevitable that Resident Evil 9 would come to gamers. The question is “when” Resident Evil 9 comes out, and it looks like fans may have to wait longer than originally expected to play the game.
Capcom has released a new type of Resident Evil game almost every year since the first game came out in 1996. In fact, Capcom has been continuously developing Resident Evil since 2019, with at least one planned. New RE projects are released every year for 5 consecutive years. Unfortunately for fans of the series, it looks like that record could be broken, as there will likely be no new Resident Evil games coming out in 2024.
According to a recent comment on Discord by reputable Resident Evil series leaker AestheticGamer, Resident Evil 9 “may have been delayed internally for some reason” and so it may now not be revealed in the future. this year and released in 2025 as previously planned. The leaker clarified that this is not “unusual” for the series. And while some gamers may not be happy to hear that we'll have to wait longer than expected to play Resident Evil 9, the good news is that another game in the series could tide them over.
Resident Evil 9 may be delayed, but another RE project may be in the works
In the same comment, AestheticGamer said that he has “seen hints” that another Resident Evil game could be announced and released before Resident Evil 9 now, thanks to RE9's internal delays. The leaker did not provide many specific details about what this mysterious Resident Evil project will bring, but he said that it is “quite funny” and “will surprise many people”. Capcom has released all kinds of Resident Evil spin-offs and remakes over the years, so it's anyone's guess what project AestheticGamer is hinting at.
Besides Resident Evil 9, there are also rumors that Capcom is preparing to release a remake of Resident Evil 5. There are some fans who are very excited about this prospect, but there are others who are disappointed that Capcom seems to is completely ignoring Code: Veronica. However, Capcom has expressed a clear desire to remake every main series Resident Evil game, so it's quite reasonable that all the big names in the series will get a remake at some point.
