Resident Evil Village on PC won game of the year award at the Steam Awards 2021, as voted for by members of the community.
In addition, RE8 was also released on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One and Google Stadia.
The results of the Steam Award 2021 are out and Resident Evil Village has won the game of the year, as voted by members of the Steam community. Resident Evil Village is one of the most popular FPS games of 2021, with fans allowed to experience it somewhat before the game’s release, thanks in no small part to Lady Dimitrescu’s immense popularity. Last quarter, Capcom posted its biggest revenue ever in 2021, thanks to the double of blockbuster series Monster Hunter Rise and Resident Evil Village. The title has sold over five million copies to date, and many more are likely to be sold, once the DLC is expected to be revealed in more detail. Critics’ reception of RE8 has been quite positive, with many describing it as combining the best elements of Resident Evil 7 – a first-person horror game with context and action. than that of Resident Evil 4.
Resident Evil Village won the PS4 game of the year award at the PlayStation Blog, which won four Golden Joystick awards (including last game of the year and PlayStation game of the year). Additionally, Maggie Robertson (who shot motion and voiced Lady Dimitrescu) won best performance at The Game Awards 2021. Resident Evil Village can now add another trophy to the shelf, the game was awarded title of the year in the Steam Award 2021. The winner was announced on the official Steam Twitter page.

Winners in other categories include Cooking Simulator VR’s best-selling VR title, Terraria winning “most worth playing game”, It Takes Two winning best to play with friends, Forza Horizon 5 wins outstanding visual style, Deathloop wins most innovative gameplay, Nioh 2 – The Complete Edition wins best game you like, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy wins best music and Farming Simulator 22 won the most relaxing game category. Despite having an extremely difficult start, Cybperunk 2077 also won the game with outstanding story award. This shouldn’t be too surprising, considering Cyberpunk 2077 is one of Steam’s biggest games of 2021 — both in terms of revenue and playtime.
The Steam Award is voted on by members of the Steam community and it’s always a good sign that there are no repeat winners on the roster. This shows a great mix of games that have been released in 2020 and 2021, and many of them have resonated with a lot of people. Resident Evil Village may have won the title throughout the year, but that doesn’t take away from the fact that it’s a great game and many people have enjoyed it on a variety of platforms.
