Takt Op. Destiny is a new original anime by Mappa and Madhouse. Its impressive first episode could put it into discussions about Anime of the Year.
A new series originally in the fall 2021 anime lineup. The first episode of Takt Op.Destiny was a pleasant surprise. Anime is a combination of two powerful studios, MAPPA and Madhouse. That alone is enough to make viewers excited about this anime. After all, Mappa has produced heavyweight hits like Jujutsu Kaisen and the final season of Attack on Titan, while Madhouse is best known for producing Hunter x Hunter (2011) and the first season of One-Punch Man, among many other movies.
Takt Op. Destiny gives viewers a lot of love in the first episode and even more to look forward to as Season 1 continues. From the characters and what we know about the overarching plot, to the unique visuals and power-ups, it’s no surprise that fans are raving about its potential.
Besides visuals, Takt’s most attractive aspect. Op Destiny is so far arguably the only power system out there. Girls known as Musicarts fight alongside humans known as Guides to eliminate alien monsters known as D2s. These D2s seem to hate music and will attack whenever it is played. Conductors and Musicarts use music as a weapon to destroy creatures.
It’s not yet explained what Musicarts exactly are, or where they come from, it’s just that they came suddenly when everyone was about to lose all hope of surviving D2s. Furthermore, the D2s themselves are a mystery. Interestingly, despite not being from Earth, Musicarts look like normal human girls, while D2 are clearly otherworldly monsters.
Takt Op. Destiny’s visuals and music are both great. The battle scenes are beautifully animated with vibrant colors and fluid movements. When the popular protagonist, Takt, plays the piano, it’s enticing enough for viewers to forget they’re watching an animated movie. It really underscores how important music is to the show’s plot.
The three main characters we’ve met so far, Takt, Destiny, and Anna, each have their own distinct and likable personalities. Their dynamics are entertaining and it will be interesting to see how each develops as the story unfolds. There are plenty of possibilities for interesting side plots the show could explore: where the characters come from, where Musicarts come from, whether D2s’ arrival on earth is merely a coincidence. sorry or if something bigger is going on, and more.
Takt. Op Destiny is likely to become one of our viewers’ favorite shows from the fall 2021 anime season and one of the best shows of the year. Fans were amused and put it into discussions about their possible Anime of the Year. As long as the show continues to hit all the notes seen in Episode 1, Mappa and Madhouse are sure to have another classic under their belt.
