Riot Games recently revealed some of their plans for the game early next year, among them, the “father” of League of Legends will prioritize bringing Udyr back to the usual equipment path instead of being rich. Current force. In the previous 12.16 version, Riot officially launched a completely new Udyr from appearance to skill set. The purpose of this refresh is to help Spirit Traveler – one of the first champions in League of Legends to catch up and shine with the current game meta.

In terms of appearance and gameplay, Udyr rework is definitely one of Riot’s biggest successes in 2022. However, Riot still hasn’t done a really good job to balance the Spirit Traveler because of the high variety in his equipment build – the biggest problem Riot has to face every time he wants to edit something for Udyr.
In terms of stacking damage, Lethal Udyr and Lightning Claw (Q) are definitely a nightmare for any champion, including Resist as the Spirit Traveler can easily obliterate them since after the buff in patch 12.18
With the enhanced Thunderclaw, Udyr can wipe out any enemy champion he wants, even Resist champions.
Meanwhile, other items like Magic Power or Resist, Gladiator are simply not very prominent and need improvement to Riot. Therefore, the general invisible Lethal Udyr caused the Spirit Traveler to lose the variety in his equipment build – a characteristic of this champion.
Recently, Riot Phroxzon, head of champion design and balance in League of Legends, has also announced some of his plans for Udyr Killer in the upcoming season.
Riot confirmed that it will be re-editing Udyr Lethality in the next version 13.1
According to Riot Phroxzon’s post, they understand the issues surrounding Udyr’s item build, specifically the Lethal items that are working too well for this champion. Riot Games is expected to improve Udyr’s other equipment styles, and at the same time adjust the Lethality-rich item build to be more reasonable, instead of being able to easily “one-shot” both Resist champions as before.
Lethal Udyr can be a strong pick, but it also makes the game gradually become unbalanced against the massive damage of the Spirit Traveler. Hopefully Riot will bring the right and necessary changes to Udyr as well as the variety in the equipment build of this champion in the upcoming version 13.1.
