With the turn of season 12, it is normal for League of Legends to have champions with somewhat outdated or simple skill sets. Of course, having a simple set of moves is also a good thing when it helps new gamers get used to the game quickly. However, it sometimes leads to some gameplay that is too “toxic” and causes discomfort for many gamers.
Master Yi desperately needs a light rework from Riot
A typical example is probably Master Yi Kill when this gameplay can help gamers “save lives” extremely simply and cause great discomfort with the stealth effect from the Dark Sword Draktharr. Perhaps because it received too much negative feedback from gamers, in the latest announcement of the champion development team, Riot Games announced that they will slightly rework Master Yi. When looking at the changes below, it can be seen that Riot wants to guide Master Yi in the style of attack effects instead of Lethal.
Master Yi’s change details will be applied in patch 12.5
As we have seen above, the biggest change of this rework is that the Q – Alpha skill when attacking will apply the attack effect. When combining this move with the skill E – Wuju Martial Arts, Master Yi can deal a large amount of true damage every time he uses the skill. In addition, this new effect also combines extremely well with items that provide attack effects such as Nameless Sword, Purple Knife…
The fact that Q – Alpha Strike applies the attack effect…
… and the ability to reduce the cooldown on nerfed attacks when there is a lot of skill cooldown makes the Lethality play a lot less valuable
However, this remake also indirectly caused Master Yi’s Lethal gameplay to be heavily nerfed when the interaction rate with AD was reduced relatively large. Moreover, Lethal items often bring relatively large skill cooldowns. Meanwhile, the new Q – Alpha Skill will have a very small cooldown reduction if this champion has a lot of skill cooldown. In short, both in terms of damage and benefits, the Lethality build is completely inferior when compared to the attack effect style.
It won’t be too surprising if the usage rate of the Master Yi Lethal gameplay drops drastically in the upcoming patch 12.5
In short, this change of Riot will clearly guide Master Yi’s gameplay when Q – Alpha Skill now supports the attack effect style too well. Of course, you can still increase Lethality with Master Yi, but the effectiveness will be much lower than before. Hopefully these changes of Riot will help Master Yi become strong and suitable for modern League of Legends.
