Since February 2023, Riot Games’ change in the price of League of Legends Champions will help players significantly reduce the cost of the champion portfolio in the game.

After taking over League of Legends from Garena, Riot Games will have policies to adjust champion prices more suitable for most players. The main goal of League of Legends publishers is to make it easier for new players to own champions, as well as use prices to guide them to choose the right champions when they are just starting their exploration of League of Legends.
Riot Games will update League of Legends champion prices again from the 13.5 update
In the latest video of League of Legends, a representative of Riot Games shared:
“…Our current pricing model is a bit outdated. This model updates slowly, only considering the ‘seniority’ of champions, and is not suitable for the champion collecting experience at all. that we want to bring to players today. After all, champions are always at the heart of League of Legends, so we will improve this aspect.
This new structure will still consider the “seniation” of champions, but is no longer directly affected by champion launch time. As our strategy has shifted from releasing 1 more champion every 2 updates in the early stages to a schedule that allows us to more effectively plan champions, we feel that it’s time to change the way champion discounts are implemented. We’re now focusing more on the number of seasons the champion has “battled” rather than the number of champions released since then…”
This change will significantly reduce the THL/RP cost of the champion portfolio, thereby making it easier for players to start their journey to find fun in League of Legends. Excluding discounts, this change will reduce 140,606 THL and 14,905 RP total price of the champion portfolio, specifically as follows:
450 THL / 260 RP – Great champions for new players. For example Malphite, Miss Fortune and Yuumi.
1,350 THL / 585 RP – The champions are a bit more complex than the lower tier, but still quite accessible for players interested in trying. Examples include Yasuo, Lucian and Sett.
3,150 THL / 790 RP – The generals possess a gameplay with high difficulty or require “advanced” skills. Examples include LeBlanc, Shaco and Yorick.
4,444 THL / 880 RP – Jhin
THL 4,800 / RP 880 – Most of the champion category will fall into this tier.
6,300 THL / 975 RP – Champions that have debuted within the last 2 seasons, then they will be promoted when the next season starts.
7,800 THL / 975 RP – The champions have just been released in the past 1 week.
In addition to the price changes, Riot Gaems will also launch new champion packs for a variety of positions in each tier. These packs will save even more for players looking to build up their starter champion collection quickly. It is expected that champion price changes will apply from League of Legends update 13.5.
