Besides the two annual international League of Legends tournaments, MSI and Worlds, Riot Games is said to have plans to organize a third tournament.
Sources from Sheep Esports said that Riot Games plans to organize another international level League of Legends tournament in 2025. Accordingly, this tournament will fall between Winter and Spring, around March – 4.
At the present time, the format and venue have not been determined, but the number of participating teams is expected to be similar to MSI, with each major region having at least one team present.
Riot wants to have more international League of Legends tournaments
This is a plan that Riot has cherished over the years when many fans thought that only 2 international tournaments a year (MSI and Worlds) were too few. Previously, tournaments like Rift Rivals or All Stars also received attention and support from many League of Legends fans, so the organizing team wants to recreate that.
With the above organization time, the schedule of League of Legends tournaments around the world will of course be adjusted. For example, in the current season, domestic tournaments will be postponed to April-May, while MSI may move to June-July.
Also according to the above source, Riot is expected to update information about the new tournament in June 2024, after MSI 2024 ends. In addition, the North American region (LCS) is also expected to organize 3 seasons/year (Winter, Spring and Summer), just like Europe (LEC) is doing at the present time. Currently, the League of Legends fan community around the world is very supportive of this idea and is looking forward to official information from Riot.
