(Country) – Riot has made very noticeable changes in the ranking mode of League of Legends from the 2023 season.
Only a short time left, the 2023 season will officially begin. Not long ago, the VCS community started to convert accounts from Garena server to Riot. In addition, in the upcoming new season, players will also receive very noticeable changes. One of them is the difference in ranking mode compared to before.
Specifically, in the latest clip of Riot about the changes in ranking, the most notable is that players will have 2 ways to receive the Glory skin. The first, is for players who have already reached Gold as usual. This is the traditional way of Riot for League of Legends.
The other way is that the community will have to play a certain number of ranked matches to achieve the Glory skin. Riot representatives said that there are many players who, after reaching the Gold level, will immediately stop playing ranked. Therefore, this may be a way to solve the “abandoned” situation of League of Legends after reaching the required rank. However, Riot’s announcement has not provided information about the number of matches that players in low ranks must complete to receive the Glory skin.
In addition, from the 2023 season, there will be 2 resets of the entire player ranking system. The first wave will take place in early January 2023 like every previous season and the other will be in the middle of the year. In addition, the League of Legends promotion series will be revised to 3 matches instead of 5 matches as it is currently. The specific time will be announced by Riot in the near future.
An equally important tweak is the ranked matchmaking system. Previously, a match would be matched through League Points (LP – the number of points the player gets after each match) and MMR (ranked tier). In the 2023 season, players will be matched based on MMR and LP points are only used for ranking purposes. This is to remedy the situation where some high ranked players create accounts at lower ranks – an act that has long been condemned.
With the above edits, Riot wants to bring a new environment to the player community. The League of Legends community also reacted very positively to the information from Riot and the 2023 season promises to be extremely attractive.
