Gen.G will almost certainly have the top 1 position in the group stage of the LCK Summer 2022 after the victory against DK, Ruler confidently won the summer championship after the victory.
Gen.G is almost certain to have the leading position in the group stage of the LCK Summer 2022 when 1 point more than T1 and a lot of points from the win-loss ratio. T1 regretfully kept the second place when it lost quickly 0-2 against a direct competitor. Last week, GEN continued to maintain their winning streak with a 2-1 victory over DK. Although they could not set a new record for the number of wins, the GEN members, especially Ruler, continued to show extremely high performance when facing a DK who was finding himself again. With the group stage coming to an end, Coach Score and Ruler had a chat about what happened after the win over DK and GEN’s upcoming preparations at the Playoffs.
What do you think about the win against DK?
Score: I’m glad we won 2-1. We always needed game 3 against DWG KIA, so I’m relieved that I finally got a big win in the deciding game.
Ruler: We’ve been confident lately and have a lot of momentum so I think that’s why we were able to win tonight. I’m really glad we won.
Gen.G had a 17-game winning streak up to game 1 of the match against DK, but after losing game 2, the team was unable to set a new record.
Score: It might be a bit disappointing that we didn’t break that record, but that doesn’t mean our performance is down. As long as the team continues to play well, I’m not too bothered about any records.
Ruler: I agree. Our goal is to win, not to set new records. I just focus on winning.
Like I said before, whenever Gen.G plays against DWG KIA, the game always needs game 3. What do you think is the reason?
Ruler: That’s because they’re a strong team. Every DK player is a good player. By saying this, I don’t mean to underestimate the other teams we won 2-0, but DWG KIA prepared well ahead of us.
What do you think of the surprise pick Karthus in game 2?
Score: We really don’t think Karthus will be picked in game 2, because he’s a rarely picked champion in the current meta. Picking Skarner wasn’t a good pick against Canyon’s Karthus and we didn’t ban him in game 3 because it was really hard to build a squad around Karthus. We simply don’t feel the need to ban him.
Starting this season, Gen.G started working on an analyst named J. What was his role on the team and how did he help with the team’s preparation?
Score: He started working with us in the spring, but he and the team worked on different floors of the building. However, starting this summer, I felt that his role on the team was more important, so we brought him up to our floor to work in a more comfortable space. He pays more attention to the smallest details, like items and changes from each patch. Whenever a player has a question, he takes on the more traditional role of analyst, helping them figure out what they want to solve.
What is the rationale behind choosing the Preemptive Strike gem instead of Ready Attack for Lucian?
Ruler: I think Preemptive Strike suits Lucian very well. You can’t really use Ready Attack much during the laning phase. I feel better if I earn gold through Preemptive Strike and buy items faster. Also, the extra 10% damage from Preemptive Strike late in the game isn’t weak, so I like to use it with Lucian. I hope other players use it too.
Gen.G plays Lucian-Nami against Amumu.
Ruler: We felt confident playing Lucian-Nami against Amumu. We thought Yuumi wouldn’t be a good match for Amumu, so I suggested we play Lucian-Nami. I will have to rethink the game.

In game 2, Gen.G showed signs of returning after being left far behind at the beginning of the game.
Score: I feel that the fact that the players can catch up with DWG KIA is really unbelievable. I am not disappointed but on the contrary am amazed at the performance of the members.
Ruler: It was disappointing that we couldn’t win that game, but over the course of the matchup, I thought to myself that game 2 was super fun. I am very pleased with what has been shown.
Peanut has always shared in interviews that he was inspired by the LPL junglers. When watching matches from other leagues, what are you looking for?
Score: One thing I focus a lot on is the composition of the team. Based on champions, I figure out how they fight and which champion allocation in which lane. From the fights, I try to figure out how it all works best.
Ruler: I look at picks and how to use them, especially in the laning phase. I also look at how they move and roam after the early game.
Gen.G kept their spot in round 2 of the playoffs. What do you think is the most important factor when it comes to Bo5?
Score: Obviously, the preparation process is very important. In Bo5, you can’t just prepare one or two basic tactics; You have to prepare various strategies in critical situations. In addition, the most important thing is to find the harmony of everything on the day of the match.
Ruler: As someone who has won and lost a lot of Bo5, having a solid mindset is very important. Even if you lose game 1 of the match, if the members still maintain a stable mentality, a complete reversal can happen. Basically, don’t lose heart. If I can keep my best form, I believe we can become champions.
Finally, do you have something to say?
Score: The second leg of Summer is the final round of Bo3 matches of the season. We’ll make sure to keep putting on a great performance until the very end, so please continue to support our players.

Ruler: There are only a few more matches left before we can claim the number 1 position in the rankings. Personally, I think that even though we’ve done well so far, there were times when we slipped on failure. I feel that I can do much better; I want to really make my fans happy.
