Images of the main character in Ebb Software’s upcoming horror game Scorn have just been revealed, and they’re intriguing in a peculiar way.
Scorn releases on October 21, 2022, on PC and Xbox Series X/S.
For some, it feels like a long time since Ebb Software first announced the survival horror game Scorn. Inspired by the works of HR Giger and surrealist Zdzisław Beksiński, the game and the first trailer were revealed almost 8 years ago in 2014. After an unsuccessful Kickstarter campaign, Ebb Software is almost there. silent, though fans of the unconventional first-person title resurfaced once a new trailer for Scorn was released in 2016.
So far not much is known about the game, other than that it has an extremely evocative art style and living creature body structures. Players will assume the role of a humanoid creature that seems to be able to connect a variety of biomechanical weapons into the body, allowing the player to battle the fearsome enemies that inhabit the terrible world. there. The weapons in Scorn appear to be fairly normal, despite their distinct looks, and the trailers so far have revealed a shotgun, pistol, and some sort of grenade launcher.
Now, a Twitter leaker by the name of Rebs Gaming has shared the first prototype images of the player character, giving eager fans a first look at the life of the player. the object they will control. As one person commented on the tweet, the creature “looks beautiful but at the same time disgusting”. It’s certainly an interesting concept, with dark eye sockets rather than eyeballs, and long slits below the nose instead of the mouth. It’s important to note that this may not be what the final character model looks like, and a lot could have changed by the time Scorn comes out this Halloween this year.
This is not the final image of the character we control.
In the prototype images, the player character does not appear to be wearing any clothing, like the other life forms seen in the game’s trailers. But the creature appears to be a combination of technology and flesh, with what looks almost like an exoskeleton and visible muscles. There is also what appears to be a large hole in the chest and a smaller hole below. In a scene that sums up Scorn’s particularly gripping bodily horror, a previously released gameplay trailer suggests this second opening could be where players can attach some kind of device.
While Scorn was originally slated to launch in 2021 and then delayed, the official release date of October 21, 2022, was finally announced during the Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase in June. . The game will be available via Xbox Game Pass on Xbox Series X/S and PC, plus Ebb Software has announced in 2020 the product will be a period exclusive. It’s not yet clear when it will come to other platforms, although on the Kickstarter page it was specified that Scorn will eventually be available on Steam and GOG with no mention of PS5.
