Yomiuri TV, NTV and their affiliates announced on Monday that they are producing a live-action adaptation of Hidenori Hara’s Shō mo Nai Bokura no Renai-ron romance manga. on the “Platinight” programming block on January 19.
The cast includes Seina Nakata (left in the image above) as Kurumi Tanimura, Hidekazu Mashima (centre) as Takurō Tsutsumi, and Akiko Yada (right) as Eri Morita.
Keisuke Kondō, Hana Matsumoto and Ryūichi Honda are directing the film, with a script by Nanoha Itō and Yūko Imanishi.
The Shō mo Nai Bokura no Renai-ron manga series focuses on the relationships of three individuals: Takurō Tsutsumi, 40, an editorial designer who is still single in his 40s; Eri Morita, a girl with whom Takurō has been friends since high school; and Kurumi Tanimura, the girl Takurō once had feelings for.
Hara launched the manga in Shogakukan’s Big Comic magazine in January 2020 and ended it in March 2021. Shogakukan published the manga’s sixth and final volume in April 2021.
Hara received an award in the 33rd Shogakukan Manga Awards for his manga Just Meet and Fuyu Monogatari. He drew one of the manga adaptations of the Train Man: Densha Otoko story that Viz Media published in North America between 2006 and 2007. Hara’s Hoshi no Furumachi (When You Wish Upon a Star) manga inspired inspiration for a live-action film in 2011.
