MILLION TAG, Shonen Jump+’s “battle audition” program to find the “next star manga author” worldwide, announced on Friday that the winner is Naoki Fujita for the “Beat & Motion” manga. . As an award, Fujita’s work will become an anime adaptation that will be streamed globally and exclusively on Netflix. Fujita also won 5 million yen (about US$45,000), the chance to serialize the manga on Shonen Jump +, and a compilation of her own. Fujita’s collaborative manga editor from Shueisha is Shihei Rin (Editor of Chainsaw Man and SPY x FAMILY).
The eight-episode program debuted on the official YouTube channel for Shueisha as Weekly Shonen Jump magazine on the 2nd. This program follows six teams, each with a potential manga author and a Shueisha publisher who edits the manga, as they compete in four challenges. (One of the teams had a manga writer and a manga artist instead of a creator.)
The show’s standout faces are comedy trio YONSENTOSHIN and voice actress Ayane Sakura. Guest judges for the final challenge include Chainsaw Man author Tatsuki Fujimoto and Hell’s Paradise: Jigokuraku author. Netflix anime producer Kohei Obara was a guest judge on the show’s final challenge in the final episode.
