Sifu developer, Slotlap, is celebrating the Kung Fu title hitting 500,000 players after its launch on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
Sifu is available now on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
The highly anticipated Kung Fu game – Sifu was released last week. The game is definitely not for those who aren’t up for the challenge, given it’s high difficulty and massive challenge boost, but that hasn’t stopped very good sales at launch.
Those who picked up Sifu during its first week will know that it’s not as simple as some might think before its launch. The age/death system, coupled with the challenging levels, made the game extremely challenging. The reviews are all very positive for the game, but there are still people who are baffled by the high difficulty. However, when combined with the aging system and the death counter after each level, reaching the goal at the end is extremely difficult for most players.
Despite the challenging nature of the game centered on Pak Mei, the game sold well for a game of its size. Slotlap has revealed that the game had over 500,000 players in its first week of launch alone. Sloclap hasn’t really finished Sifu yet, with the developers promising DLC and future updates. Sifu outsold Sloclap’s previous game, Absolver, by about 200,000 copies. The number of copies Sifu has sold compared to Absolver really shows how well the developers have done with their latest product and keep in mind that Absolver has been out since 2017, while Sifu is just out. eye for a week and only on one platform.
Gratitude to gamers in the first week of the game’s launch.
While this is obviously something the developers are very proud of, the game’s high difficulty can be an obstacle that some players consider not worth beating. While the challenging nature of the game is integral to the experience, it can be one that some players simply don’t like, prompting some to put the game down before they complete. The second boss in Sifu in particular is a big obstacle for players.
On the plus side, Slotlap has listened to players and is currently working on an update that will allow players to adjust the difficulty in some way. It is hoped that making the game easier in some respect will prevent difficulty from getting in the way of players enjoying their experience and getting to the end of the story. Said updates will then open the game to a wider audience, cater to hardcore players looking to progress through levels, while also providing an easier experience for players looking to enjoy battles without worrying about not finishing the game.
