Anime of Takara Tomy’s magic series premiered in April
TV anime official website Mazica Party announced on Sunday that Sky Peace will perform the anime’s new opening theme song “Otapari Disco” and The Lethal Weapons will perform the new ending song “Magical Superstar.” Both new songs debuted on Sunday’s show.
The anime is part of a new “magic x party” themed multimedia series from Takara Tomy, which also includes a card game. The anime premiered on April 4.
The story of the franchise focuses on witches who collect mazica to save the world. High school student Kezuru wakes up from a strange dream that describes himself as a witch, a creature known as a “mazin”, and a mysterious girl. The next day, his friend Kuracchi proudly showed off his newly released Mazica Party card game. To Kezuru’s shock, all of the characters drawn in the game’s cards look like the characters in his dreams.
Meanwhile, Kezuru receives notice of an event at the large international company Mazica. Intrigued, Kezuru went to the Mazica Store as directed, only to meet the Mazica CEO himself, Jeff Johns. Johns said, “I have high hopes for you” and handed Kezuru Mazica Gear.
On the way back home, Kezuru is attacked by an airship-like creature. Just when he thinks, “that’s it!” to himself, his Mazica Gear erupted and a magic book appeared. When he scratched a card, he signed a contract with Barunya, a “mazin” creature that is a strange combination of a spaceship and a cat.
The mysterious girl Anya says Kezuru and his friends will be “the real magicians who save the world.” Amid all these mysterious revelations, Kezuru enrolls in Mazica Academy and participates in Mazica card battles with his fellow mazins.
