Good news for hardcore sniper gamers, the release date for Sniper Elite 5 has been confirmed.
In a tweet on the game’s official Twitter profile, developer Rebellion has confirmed that Sniper Elite 5 will release on May 26, 2022 on platforms like Xbox One, Xbox Series, PC, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. The game will also launch on Xbox Game Pass on day one.
Sniper Elite 5 is set in France in 1944, where players will take on the role of an elite member of an American Ranger detachment. As Karl Fairburne, the player will work with the French Resistance to dismantle a secret Nazi project that threatens to end the war before the Allies get involved.
Rebellion has revealed that they have used photogrammetry technology to recreate realistic European places with a high degree of creation from real architecture. The map will have more spots for players to infiltrate and exploit, and will allow players to reach their goals in more ways than ever before.
The entire plot content of the game can be played solo or co-op. The game also features an invasion mode that allows the player to infiltrate other players’ worlds to hunt them down. You can also call in a second sniper to help in certain critical situations.
The Sniper Elite kill cam, which was known for its see-through perspective showing the internal gore of a target when hit, has been improved, with SMGs and pistols now also triggering kill cams, including dramatic slow-motion shots of bones and intestines being shredded inside the body making the experience even more real.
Players who pre-order the Sniper Elite 5 will be given access to the “Target Fuhrer: Wolf Mountain Mission” mission, where players will infiltrate Hitler’s private mountain hideout in the Bavarian Alps. According to Rebellion, players are encouraged to send in a few more snipers to build creative tactical gameplay the way they want.
