From ban picks, moves, decision making and teamfights, etc., WBG were all inferior to JDG in both loss games.
In a post-match interview, Yagao said that he and his teammate JDG weren’t surprised by WBG’s pick of Pantheon and Taliyah, which were strong in the 12.14 meta.
After nearly a month of only knowing the victory at LPL Summer 2022, Weibo Gaming returned to the ground with a comprehensive 0-2 defeat against JD Gaming tonight (August 3). This result further confirms that JDG is very interested in playing against WBG with three wins from the group stage of LPL Spring 2022. Both are aiming for victory with their own goals. JDG wants to get points to forget last week’s loss to Royal Never Give Up and secure the top 2. As for WBG, they want to raise their unbeaten streak to six and break into the top four.
With reasonable combat and excellent performances by all the players with the main character being star jungler Kanavi, JDG got what they needed to reclaim the top from Top Esports. Kanavi (total KDA 13/2/19) played the role of WBG’s fierce god in a day he knew what to do in front of WBG’s overly aggressive team.
The two teams struggled fiercely in the early stages of each game, but as time passed in the middle and late, JDG always had a consistency in the way in which the team started fighting and controlled the big goal. On the very first day of LPL using version 12.14 with a lot of meta tweaks, WBG wanted to show how well prepared they were. SofM locked down the jungler Pantheon in hopes of teaming up with Taliyah and Kennen to create a wombo combo that would destroy JDG in the early-mid game.
The first three phases of SofM’s Skyfall all brought WBG kills. However, when the two teams entered the teamfight, SofM and Angel disappeared, leaving TheShy’s Kennen to “take the lead”. Thunderstorm always hit a lot of JDG members but no one from WBG kept up to help TheShy untangle. JDG completed Dragon Soul and a Baron buff was enough to close the game after 32 minutes with a score of 21-9 and overwhelming 12,000 gold. Two controllable Rift Heralds could not make up for SofM’s poor game (1/5/7).
WBG really made fans worried right from the pick and ban for game 2. Although JDG was aiming for a good basic buff, WBG took a risk with “thin” champions and allowed TheShy to play Shyvana ( 0/4/5) for the first time in his career. With the pair of Kalista and Ashe, huanfeng scored the first victory for WBG in the second minute. Although he won the lane and created a 1,000 gold gap until nearly 15 minutes, it was too fragile with the risk that JDG was cherishing.
Although ON had a few phases of accurately launching the Great Ice Arrow and advancing Missing on the count board, JDG always prevailed in important teamfights. They also exploited the wrong moves of ON and Angel to the fullest extent. Weak damage, CC is not abundant, … WBG fell into a complete underdog position and let JDG fight up, Clean up after mid lane teamfights and win the game. Sylas (5/0/14) brought in a worthy MVP for Yagao, JDG’s mid laner.
JDG (13-2) – the team that is already sure of the first or second place in the group – will play the final match in the group stage of the 2022 LPL Summer Split against Anyone’s Legend (7-6) at 18:00 on August 7. If they play properly, JDG will not have too many problems with AL – the team has lost all of the last three matches. On the WBG side (9-5), they gave themselves the fifth place to EDward Gaming due to a loss in the win-lose ratio. WBG will play against FunPlus Phoenix (6-8) who are desperate for points to be in the top 10 at 6pm on August 6.
