At first, Hiori Yo often played soccer to please her parents. However, even though he did not like the sport, he continued to play it to keep his family from falling apart. Even though he personally knew that it wasn’t the right thing to do, he had nothing else to pursue. Therefore, he let life pass by in a boring way.
Then, chapter 233 of Blue Lock has another flashback involving Tabito Karasu. Karasu advises Hiori that he needs to expect things for himself before doing something for others. However, Hiori hates expectations because he sees them as a curse. The only reason he came to Blue Lock and survived for so long was to escape his parents.
