Here’s what Deku’s new Quirk, Fa Jin, is capable of, as well as its impact on the rest of the One For All lineage in the MHA manga.
Along with the transcendent power of One For All, Deku has continuously unlocked other Quirks of its previous holders. In My Hero Academia Chapter #313, Deku debuted a new ability, Fa Jin. He hasn’t fully unleashed his full potential yet but from what the manga has revealed so far, Fa Jin promises to be a powerful tool – enough to bring Deku closer to his goal of becoming a digital hero. first.
Fa Jin, Deku’s Weirdest Sayings
Out of the five Quirks Deku unlocked so far, Fa Jin is the only one with an open attack ability. Blackwhip, Smokescreen, Danger Sense, and Float are all primarily geared towards support, offering increased mobility options and perfectly enhancing One For All’s primary energy storage. On the other hand, Fa Jin can help Deku fight his opponents, and in an explosive fashion.
Originally belonging to One For All’s 3rd user – who has yet to be named – Fa Jin allows its holder to create kinetic energy in their body and release it all from any part they want. right away. When used, it greatly increases Deku’s speed and strength. The sudden release of energy suggests that it can be difficult to control at first, but constant practice (as Deku doesn’t want to do) will certainly make Quirk more flexible than it is in its current state.
Fa Jin, even in his unpolished state, has proven invaluable in battle. Using this Quirk for the first time, Deku was able to take down the expert marksman, Lady Nagant in the latest chapter. As a ranged fighter, her main attack strategy against Deku is to maintain distance and take out Deku with her rifle. Her lightning-fast reflexes and newly acquired Air Walk Quirk made a slow, systematic approach impossible, prompting Deku to adopt a more direct plan.
How Fa Jin Works
Using Fa Jin, Deku was able to jump straight through every floor of a multi-story building, and he still had enough momentum to keep up with Lady Nagant in the air. It was clear that Fa Jin’s muscular strength was beyond his capabilities – but how exactly did it work?
The real-world martial arts technique of the same name allows its user to generate high power with relatively little force. Popular moves like One Inch Punch are derivatives of Fa Jin. If the new Quirk works similarly to this technique, it will open up a whole new world of One Fo All possibilities for Deku.
Deku’s main obstacle in his quest to realize One for All’s full potential is that his body can’t keep up with the upper limits of his strength. Fa Jin can offer an alternative until he can safely use “100%”. Activating this Quirk while still within his range will increase the power behind his blows without any risk to you. As he grows up and becomes more familiar with One Fo All, Fa Jin will continue to add his powers. It is possible that Deku at 100% would be able to generate many times more power than All Might at its peak, due to this new Quirk.
Fa Jin will also not only apply to Deku’s attacks: It can also leverage other moves Deku has developed such as Shoot Style and Air Force. Shoot Style already allows Deku to move faster than most people can perceive, so a Fa Jin enhancement could end up making his movements more like teleportation. Even so, Deku is still a long way from mastering this new power in the My Hero Academia manga, so it may be a while before its full potential is discovered.
