Here’s a summary of what happened in Dragon Ball Super Chapter 72, “Saiyan and Cerealian.”
In Dragon Ball Super Chapter 71, the Heeters executed their plan to turn Goku and Vegeta against Granolah in hopes of destroying the last Cerealian and claiming the Dragon Balls. After receiving information from Zuno, Oil and Macki have come to Earth, they steal the Dragon Radar and convince Goku and Vegeta, Granolah is the bad guy. The two – who never shirk the opportunity to prove their power – then set off to Planet Cereal to confront the most powerful new warrior in the universe. Now, in Dragon Ball Super Chapter 72, the war between the Saiyans and the Cerealians finally begins – and Granolah will fight to the fullest.
After an 18-day journey, Goku, Vegeta, Oil, and Macki arrive at Cereal. While Goku and Vegeta do not perceive any noticeable limb, Macki claims their opponent lies beyond a nearby mountain. Goku and Vegeta fly in to face their opponents, while Macki and Oil stay behind to wait for Elec and Gas, who are on their way. Dragon Ball Super then moves on to Elec and Gas, who make it clear they’ve been on Cereal before. However, Gas has a tragic history with the planet not explained in the chapter.
Back at Cereal, Goku and Vegeta notice that the ruins on the planet aren’t particularly new and that there are cities that haven’t been attacked, seeding doubt about Macki and Oil’s story. However, before the two could reflect on their observations, the two Saiyans were attacked by an invisible opponent, energy bandits firing at them. Despite appearing to be quite far away, Granolah was able to almost hit two Saiyans.
Vegeta transforms into Super Saiyan to solve the problem, while Goku transforms into using Ultra Instinct. The two approached the location where the explosion was about to happen, but they found no one there. Then, Granolah started attacking Goku and Vegeta from above. Again, the two barely dodged the explosions, and then suddenly they started to rise again from the ground. Goku and Vegeta realize that the attacker is faster. Soon after, Goku is hit from behind and knocked out on the ground. As Vegeta notes, the explosion hit one of his ally’s vital points. Luckily, Goku doesn’t stay long, as Vegeta uses one of their two Senzu Beans on him. Later, Prince Saiyan berated his companion for relying too much on his infinity instinct without using his super saiyan form.
Finally, the two Saiyans get their first look at Granolah. Goku uses a wand, but Granolah moves behind them with an ability faster than Teleport. “I don’t have a name for this,” Granloah said, finally breaking her silence. “It’s just a small part of the power that makes me the strongest man in the universe.”
Granolah then hints at his history with the Saiyan race, explaining that he knows their reputation well. However, Granolah did not explain that the Saiyans were Freeza’s henchmen when it came to destroying the Cerealians. Instead, he unleashes an attack – which Vegeta describes as similar to the Destruction technique he learned from Beerus – that nearly obliterates them both.
From there, Vegeta and Goku decide that the latter will fight Granolah first. For his part, Vegeta claims he wants Goku to lose so that he can later defeat Granolah himself and thus prove himself superior. The Saiyan Prince, though, has an ulterior motive, as Vegeta begins to investigate the suspicious destruction of Planet Cereal.
On the surface, Granolah asks Goku why he didn’t transform into his Great Ape form, to which Goku explains that he has other transformations. From there, Goku unleashes the Super Saiyan God. However, this form is not enough to confront Granolah, who keeps Goku on the defensive until he has to use his infinity instincts. This combined transformation gives Goku the ability to dodge most of Granolah’s attacks with ease. Watching the fight from above, Vegeta commented, “[Bản năng vô cực] becomes more accurate when used in conjunction with Super Saiyan Form.” However, this power-up was not enough, as Granolah knocks Goku down again.
After witnessing his comrades being defeated, Vegeta is surprised that Granolah is finding Goku’s weakness so easily. Granolah then reveals that his right eye essentially allows him to see Goku’s “blood flow and muscle movement”, thus helping him figure out exactly where to strike to deal damage. maximum. This then causes Vegeta to begin to remember what he knows about the Cerealians, and to descend to the surface of the planet to investigate further.
As that was going on, Granolah told Goku not to hold back, stating that he wanted to achieve his main goal of killing Freeza. While Goku begins to realize that Granolah isn’t necessarily the bad guy Oil and Macki have claimed, Cerealian transforms into a stronger form and the conversation ends. This causes Goku to become Super Saiyan Blue and the two rush into each other.
On the surface of Cereal, Vegeta finds traces of a great ape in the ruins of a city. “I see,” Vegeta said. “It all makes sense now. I think I know who he is.” Dragon Ball Super Chapter 72 then ends there, making it completely unclear what Vegeta will do with the revelation that the Saiyans have wiped out the Cerealians and a possible reason for Granolah’s attack. Vegeta is no stranger to wanting revenge on Freeza anyway for wiping out a people.
