Spy x Family episode 9 – Yor’s insecurities heavily affect the Forger family atmosphere. By society’s standards, Yor was not a good wife.
It’s good that Yuri is drunk and doesn’t recognize her sister’s acting. If he were in a more sober state, the entire kiss prelude would almost show that Yor and Loid weren’t as close as they thought. Even so, Yuri is still a dangerous threat that makes Loid more cautious. His main goal is Twilight to keep his sister safe – but Yor has married Loid without warning. It was definitely an ironic situation that Yuri never expected.
It’s hard to judge Yuri whether he is a threat? An undercover cop and Twilight’s own enemy. However, Yuri will become the baby boy to anything Yor says, even if what she says and does makes absolutely no sense upon scrutiny. No ordinary person would believe the phrase “Because I forgot to tell you” as a valid excuse to justify a fake marriage. Yor will be an important factor in keeping the Forgers out of suspicion when it comes to Yuri, as long as Yuri doesn’t start digging into Loid.
While Yuri is jealous of Loid, Loid is also jealous of Yuri and Yor in a way. The way Loid looks at their close relationship reveals a lot about what he missed as a child. The Forger family is somehow beginning to fill that hole in his heart.
Let’s try to see things from Anya’s perspective, I must say that mind reading is not a superpower, but a curse. She can read Loid’s doubts about Yor and Yor’s self-doubt about being a suitable wife for Loid. The little girl saw the family she had always dreamed of starting to shake and there was nothing more she could do. That creates a lot of stress. It makes you realize how painful it was for Anya in her previous families. Anya’s powers give her a top-notch tool for explaining things, but it’s futile to prevent any of it. I hope it’s for Anya’s sake that the Forgers don’t disband and it’s clear after episode 9 Spy x Family that they’ll stick around for a long time.
Twillight had taken long enough to be alert, now he was only suspicious of the things he should have considered in the first place. The whole interrogation was overdone, though at least it cleared up Twilllight’s suspicions about Yor. Franky really became the focus of sisters on social networking sites.
What Twilight heard over the wiretapping was sad. He learns of Yor’s self-doubt and begins to envy her co-workers, who are like hungry hyenas surrounding an injured antelope. The couple’s respective occupations are not the only things that have been hidden. They also hid their own doubts and inner monologues, so I’m sure Twilight opened her eyes to that side of Yor. Pretty glad Twilllight didn’t overlook Yor’s suffering, which he could easily have done since it was well known. Instead, he went to see her after work, encouraging her to be herself.
Yor’s insecurities heavily affect the Forger family atmosphere throughout much of episode 9 of Spy x Family. By society’s standards, Yor married too late for his age. She just got married while her co-worker already has serious relationships for a long time. Yor received messages about a “definitive” female role model, like how she should consolidate finances with her husband, cook better, and not cause trouble for her family. None of which she did well, so it was natural to blame herself.
When you don’t fit the mold, you feel insecure and start to think that’s how people see you too. For Yor, she extended beyond the social constructs of family happiness, which, as Loid pointed out, is merely an act. Her relationship with Loid is more mutual respect and cooperation than we have seen in her co-worker relationship. Yor is able to protect herself and her family, and at the same time genuinely cares for loved ones like her younger brother Yuri and takes care of Anya with all her heart. Yor itself is more defined as the role of a wife or mother in a society that defines women by their families.
Yor’s character is handled extremely well. Her insecurities don’t make her pathetic. They show Yor his self-doubt alongside his strengths. Yuri’s cherished memories of being raised by her, followed by Yor’s doubts about family happiness. Both strengths and weaknesses go hand in hand, adding depth to Yor’s character to make her more real, more relatable.
And lastly, and equally important, Anya is still dreaming! The time to appear in episode 9 Spy x Family is quite short, but still do not forget to joke with expressions and lines that can’t be more ridiculous!
