Star Wars The Old Republic Celebrates celebrates the series’ 10th anniversary with a stunning Cinematic trailer.
The developers of Star Wars The Old Republic have introduced a brand new cinematic trailer, titled “Disorder,” to celebrate the game’s 10th anniversary. Star Wars: The Old Republic fans have the opportunity to witness a feast of eyes before the game’s brand new cinematic trailer. This short video celebrates the hugely popular MMORPG, which was released over ten years ago.
Video game developer BioWare, in association with Electronic Arts, launched The Old Republic in 2011 after announcing it in 2008. The ambitious online PC title, to this day, is still in development. updated frequently. The game allows the player to create their own Sith or Jedi character through a complex and powerful character customization system.
The choices made during this customization affect the player’s experience throughout the game, including where they begin their journey and what equipment and abilities are available to them. These options are only part of what has helped free-to-play multiplayer games thrive in a competitive market.
In honor of the success and longevity of this game, The Old Republic’s official Twitter account shared a stunning CGI trailer for the game. The trailer, which is essentially a short, is titled “Disorder” and was produced in association with Industrial Light & Magic, a VFX company that made the original Star Wars trilogy. Disorder tells the story of a young Togruta Padawan as she is tempted into the dark side by a menacing Sith Lord. A war broke out over several important Holocrons, and the Sith Lord eventually escaped with the artifact in hand. The trailer ends after that, revealing the title of the upcoming expansion for SWTOR: Legacy of the Sith.
Whether the viewer is a fan of Star Wars or not, it is hard not to appreciate the impressive art style and animation in every detail shown in this video. Each character’s movements are defined as smooth, elegant, and unmistakable between the Star Wars versions. The story itself is certainly a simple one, but chooses to continue the tradition of other Star Wars stories: a young Jedi embarks on an adventure with their mentor, only if that mentor was taken down by a Sith villain, which fueled that Jedi’s true power. It’s a predictable formula, but it does a great job of bringing the story to heart.
When watching this trailer, fans of The Old Republic will surely wonder what this new expansion might entail. The Sith Lord in the trailer will likely be the final boss, with Holocron serving as a sort of McGuffin, but the game is also likely to offer a few surprises. Either way, given The Old Republic’s popularity, this expansion is definitely a far cry from the final post-release.
