The Duffer brothers developed Stranger Things in a way that blends the drama-investigation genre with supernatural elements created from science fiction with horror and childish acumen. The film is also inspired by the works of Steven Spielberg, John Carpenter and Stephen King, along with anime and video games. Strange experiments conducted during the Cold War era and many real-life conspiracy theories about top secret government experiments also inspired the founding duo.
