God of War Ragnarok seems to be difficult and new for beginners, so Game4V will summarize tips and tricks for you before playing.
Four years after the release of God of War in 2018, the sequel titled God of War Ragnarok has just been released and met the expectations of the fans. Kratos has moved from Greece to the Nine Realms of the Norse Gods to escape his past and start a new beginning. But like it or not, he and his son Atreus were thrust into the fateful events that led to the war of Ragnarok, a final great battle that led to the inevitable apocalypse. To survive all the great threats that are coming Kratos will have to fight for his future and his son.
Since this is a sequel, new players are encouraged to play the first game before playing Ragnarök. But if this is the player’s first time in the series, luckily there is a story summary in the main menu that will keep even the beginners up to date with the most important details and facts. . The tutorial can also be helpful when it comes to basic combat, but hopefully these tips and tricks can help players reach their potential as a truly invincible god of war.
1. Choose the difficulty carefully and never give up
The difficulty of the game can vary depending on your playing style, if you like to focus on the story choose the easiest level or want to enhance the gameplay experience try with higher levels. The highest difficulty setting is called “Give me God of War” and if selected at the start of a new game, it can only be switched to a lower difficulty. However, it should be noted that many players will not be able to change the difficulty after selecting New Game so be very careful when choosing.
Even on easier difficulty, combat will be somewhat difficult, especially with so many enemies to fight. Almost every mob fights Kratos differently and has its own strengths and weaknesses. This means players have to be quick to adapt and be knowledgeable about their moves. Using the same weapons, moves, armor, and abilities might not be enough against enemies they’ve never faced before. If the player can’t defeat a boss, the worst thing they can do is give up and admit their defeat.
2. Learn from battles and plan your battles properly
An effective way to defeat both regular enemies and bosses is to stun them. If they are completely stunned there is a chance to give Kratos a chance to perform a high-damage special that takes a large portion of their health even though the attack doesn’t instantly kill them. This can sometimes be done using as many Light Runic and Heavy Runic attacks as possible, never giving the in-game Boss time to counterattack. This strategy is most effective when the player uses all of their special attacks before switching to a new weapon and allows you to chain up with high damage.
Many enemies have different elemental attacks and weaknesses. For example, when facing fire-wielding Draugr, Leviathan’s Ax’s freezing attacks deal extra damage, while flaming Blades of Chaos won’t have much effect beyond its base damage. Some enemies will also have elemental armor that must be destroyed before their health bar is depleted. Unlike the first game, Ragnarök also has a variety of shields and abilities that cater to different playstyles. The player can equip a heavy shield that gives great protection against all but the strongest attacks, a smaller shield that allows for a high risk/high reward block or something between.
3. Explore and collect items as fully as possible
Exploration is an important part of making the game. As the player travels the Nine Realms and uncovers their secrets, there will be side quests and challenges to complete, battle hidden bosses or open Legendary chests filled with luxury items. All of these can reward players with extremely valuable XP and loot. However, players cannot level up Kratos just by earning XP. Players need to improve their stats in order to level up, which can be done by purchasing new equipment or upgrading their weapons. To upgrade equipment and abilities, players will need to spend XP or gather the resources needed for them.
Whenever exploring an area as part of the main story or side quests, some of the best loot to collect are the Idunn Apples and the Horns of the Meadow of Blood from the Nornir Chest, respectively, which are upgradable. Kratos’ Health bar or Spartan’s Rage bar. To open these chests, the player must solve puzzles involving the three runes on the chest. Some of these puzzles are more difficult than others and will often require a thorough search of the area, different weapons, and help from Atreus. As the game progresses, the player will need more of these collectibles to increase the health and rage bars, so the player should settle as many as possible for good results for later battles.
