Super Mario Bros. Wonder has sold 4.3 million copies worldwide through October 30. According to Nintendo, this is the biggest release for a Super Mario title since they began recording sales data during the Wii and Nintendo DS. Although the report doesn’t specifically mention whether this data point is specific to 2D side-scrolling Mario games or includes 3D platformers as well.
In its announcement to investors, Nintendo noted that the Super Mario Bros. typically have long sales compared to other titles like The Legend of Zelda and Pokémon, both of whose latest releases sold 10 million copies in their first weekends.
By comparison, Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe sold 1 million copies in its first two weeks and has now reached 16.7 million copies as of September 30, 2023, making it the 10th best-selling game on Nintendo Switch.
