Makoto Shinkai’s Suzume, premiering November 11, 2022, will begin streaming exclusively on Crunchyroll today, November 16, 2023, 5 p.m. PST. Suzume will be available in the following territories: North America, Central America, South America, Europe (excluding France), Africa, Oceania, Middle East and CIS. The film was first released in theaters worldwide by Crunchyroll, Sony Pictures and Wild Bunch International, and returned in October with hopes of surpassing Shinkai’s Your Name at the box office.
Suzume returns to North American theaters on October 27 and will stream on Crunchyroll from November 16, 2023Furthermore, a complete manga version of Shinkai’s box office hit Weathering With You was added to K MANGA on November 2, 2023. The K MANGA X account captioned the announcement: “The manga details Revealing the backstories and true thoughts of the characters has stolen the hearts of fans and critics worldwide.” K MANGA’s Weathering With You manga is only available in the United States.
Crunchyroll describes Suzume: On the other side of the door, is all of time— “Suzume” is a coming-of-age story about the 17-year-old protagonist, Suzume, set in various disaster-stricken locations across Japan. Ban, where she had to close the doors that caused the destruction. Suzume’s journey begins in a quiet town in Kyushu (located in southwestern Japan) when she meets a young man who tells her: “I’m looking for a door.” What Suzume found was a weathered door standing upright amidst the rubble as if it were shielded from any disaster that occurred.
