Kodoani.com – The May issue of Kadokawa’s Monthly Shōnen Ace magazine publishes a 41-page special chapter 0 of the manga Sword Art Online : Unity Ring by Masato Kanetsuki – the adaptation of the “Unital Ring” arc in Reki Kawahara’s Sword Art Online light novel series – on Saturday. The manga will begin serialization in the magazine’s June issue on April 26.
Kawahara is credited for the original work and abec is credited for the character design.
Kadokawa’s now-defunct magazine Dengeki Bunko published the opening chapter of the “Unital Ring” part of the novel in 2017. The series’ 27th overall volume (pictured at right), was released in September. 10, 2022, is the sixth novel in the new season.
The story of the “Unital Ring” part begins a month after Kirito and Asuna returned from the Underworld with Alice, who was already in physical form in the real world. They are suddenly drawn into a massively multiplayer online mystery survival game (MMO) called Unital Ring, which combines all the virtual reality MMOs built with the program “The Seed”. As soon as the game started, Kirito lost all his favorite gear and was left with only one pair of pants. Kirito and the others must start the game from level 1.
Kōtarō Yamada launched the Sword Art Online: Phantom Bullet manga, adapted from the “Phantom Bullet” part of the novel series, in 2014. The manga ended temporarily in July 2016, then resumed in December 2020. The manga ended in December 2021. Kadokawa published three volumes for the manga in Japan between 2014-2016, and Yen Press published the three volumes in English.
Yamada’s Sword Art Online: Project Alicization manga ended with its 30th chapter in June 2021. Yamada launched the manga in Kadokawa’s Dengeki Bunko Magazine in August 2016. The manga moved online. online to the DenPlay Comic website when Kadokawa stops publishing Dengeki Bunko Magazine in April 2020.
The Sword Art Online light novel series has adapted several anime and anime movies. It has also inspired many manga, games, and Vr in Japan. Skydance Television announced in August 2018 that it has acquired the global live-action television rights to the franchise from Kadokawa.
