The anime’s official Twitter account confirmed the continuation of the popular sci-fi/fantasy anime series. The announcement and trailer were posted on December 31, the same day that the new 60-minute anime special, titled The Irregular at Magic High School: Reminiscence Arc, which was broadcast on Japanese television. Additional details about the show’s sequel are still scarce, as the teaser video is mostly a look back at footage from previous installments in the series.

Anime takes place in an alternate history where certain humans have magical abilities, and as a result the development of technology has been focused on helping magicians to hone their skills. The series takes place at a high school specifically designed to help potential magicians reach their full potential, and focuses on a pair of siblings: Miyuki with a penchant for magic, and her brother and guardian, Tatsuya. A spin-off series, titled The Honor at Magic High School, aired its 13-episode first season last summer.
